Position Summary:
Provides high quality dining experience to patients while meeting nutritional requirements and service expectations. Responsible for preparation of all food items following standardized recipes. Serves as liaison between patients and Nutritional Services through daily patient visits and coordination of patient nutritional needs. Assists patients with menu selections, when appropriate.
Qualifications:
Experience: 1-2 years institutional food service preparation.
Certification: Eligible to become certified in Food Service Sanitation, must be certified within the first 90 days of employment.
Skills: Basic computer skills required. Ability to identify and follow verbal and/or written instructions. Ability to communicate and work cohesively with diverse groups. Mathematical aptitude for extending recipes and production levels Ability to complete all required training and competencies, including age specific competencies, HIPAA training, etc.
Essential Functions:
-Responsible for preparation of patient trays and verifying accuracy of items to meet prescribed diet and inidividual
patient needs.
-Prepares menu items according to the standardized recipes in a sanitary and timely manner. Follows recipes, portion
controls, and presentation specifications as established.
-Delivers and retrieves meal trays within designated time frames. Distributes patient meals trays. Monitors parameters
for patient verification. Collects patient meal trays.
-Prepares and delivers floor stock for distribution to units according to established par levels on floor and department
guidelines. Documents temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, dish machine, and food on a daily basis to assure proper
operation. Reports discrepencies, as appropriate.
-Assists patients with menu selection. Communicates pertinent nutritional needs to associates, as appropriate.
-Follows safety and sanitation policies and procedures. This includes completing cleaning assignments as scheduled,
cleaning equipment, and following all safety procedures to protect self, associates, and patients. Follows sanitation
policies for food storage and preparation.
-Ensures adequate procurement of food and supplies. Inventories and orders food and supplies on weekly basis.
-Remains aware of disaster plan policy for meal service. Completes daily job assignments within the time parameters
for the designated meal service.
-Assists with effective training program, on-the-job training, and continuing education for associates. Facilitates
trainng and orientation of new associates, serves as a mentor.
