Café Attendant/Barista

The Gateway Café at SCI Building is hiring a Café Attendant/Barista

Seeking a friendly, reliable, customer-focused Café Attendant/Barista to engage customers and share the mission of The Arc Gateway, all while preparing and serving specialty drinks and food.

They will interact with customers and staff to build rapport and brand loyalty.

The successful attendant will be an outgoing individual who acknowledges, greets, and effectively listens to customers to ensure prompt and courteous service.

This is a part-time position working days and hours are primarily Monday-Friday between 7:30 am and 3:00 pm but will vary according to business needs.

Previous work experience as a barista or experience working in a cafe/food industry is preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Welcome/greet customers and provide exceptional customer service with each transaction.
Answer questions and assist customers with special inquiries and options regarding specialty drinks, food, and retail items.
Safely operate café equipment, including, but not limited to blenders, grinders, espresso machines, ovens, and cash registers.
Accurately and safely prepare and serve hot and cold coffee, drinks and other specialty items.
Assist in the preparation of food items as needed.
Accurately ring sales orders into point of sale (POS) system and count back change to customers.
Coordinate merchandising of inventory to reflect promotions, events and maintain attractive display of retail items.
Update signage, displays and building email distributions to attract customers.
Receive, store, and shelve new merchandise and supplies.

Perform monthly inventory.
Re-shelve and stock food service and retail inventory and supplies.
Wash dishes, sweep, mop, etc.

to maintain a safe/clean and pleasing café and customer experience.
Comply with all food safety handling laws.
Host and assist with catering and special events.
Balance cash drawer following each shift.

SALARY: $11.00-$13.00 per hour (Depending on experience)
