Ameristar Kansas City is currently looking for a skilled Cook to join our amazing culinary team. In our new taqueria themed concept food is cooked to order, using authentic recipes, in an open air kitchen.

As a Cook with our company you will prepare delicious meals according to menu that delight our customers with their taste and timely delivery.

They must be proficient in moving around a busy kitchen and able to effectively multi-task.

 
Responsibilities
• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
• Complete all assigned prep items as written on prep sheet
• Check quality of ingredients
• Wash, slice, peel and/or cut various foods to prepare for cooking or serving
• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
• Ensure work procedures, quality standards, recipes and menu specifications are adhered to in conjunction with the guidelines described in the Standard Operating Procedures manual to ensure consistent execution of company and department standards.

• Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling or piercing them with utensils.

• Prepare all food items accurately in a timely manner.

• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
• Coordinate and communicate orders with dining room staff.

• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
• Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages
• Observe and enforce Health Department regulations regarding food handling, storage, proper steam table temperature, and cleanliness of work environment.

Responsible of having a full knowledge of the MSDS program.

• Complete opening, closing and side duties assigned by the supervisors.

• Maintain all training and be in constant communication with Lead Cook and/or Sous Chefs.

• Maintain a well-groomed, neat and clean appearance.

• Possess the ability to work harmoniously with coworkers.

 
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
(Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis)
 
At least one ( 1) year experience directly related to the accountabilities specified.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (Licenses, Certifications, Testing, etc.):
Team members may be required to obtain a Gaming Commission license, depending on position and state to be paid by Team Member Possession of and ability to obtain and maintain a valid ID within assigned state of employment and other jurisdictions Require reading and math skills for recipes and measurements Must successfully pass background check Must successfully pass an alcohol and drug screening Must be at least 18 years of age Demonstrated ability to prepare a wide variety of food items, to standard, in a high-volume, fast-paced operation.

Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of the application of sanitation procedures.
