Weight Handling Administrator

Alakaina Foundation Family of Companies

This is a Contract position in Lexington, NC posted August 4, 2021.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under general direction of a supervisor, is responsible for administering the PMRF weight handling program for all cranes, rigging gear, operator license requirements, training, and documentation as required by the latest edition of the NAVFAC P-307 instruction for Management of Weight Handling Equipment.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES: Maintains all crane and rigging gear records Schedules and updates monthly all crane and rigging gear recertifications Maintains the crane operator licensing database in PRISMS and keeps all licenses current Acts as the primary Rigging Inspector Instructor for Cat 3 Crane Safety Refresher Course Alternate Crane Test Inspector Alternate Test Director for Cat 3 cranes Capable of setting up work tasks of varying complexities from written directions, drawings, and diagrams Performs assigned tasks in a highly skilled manner IAW established standards Exercises independent judgement in determining that proper work methods and safe practices are utilized Prepares and/or maintains reports and records related to the work assignments Works with other semi-skilled and skilled craftspersons and coordinates with members of other activities to insure quality and timely accomplishment of assigned duties Provides guidance, orientation, and training to newly assigned and lower skilled employees Responsible for care of Government equipment, tools, property, and materials and ensures that they are properly maintained and safeguarded Performs specific tasks IAW verbal and/or written instructions and observes safety, fire, health, and work rules Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High school graduate or equivalent Satisfactory completion of a military or recognized trade school or correspondence course or have a minimum of 4 years apprenticeship or equivalent work experience Must possess the following PC skills: Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint Must have computer skills to maintain the database for the Maximo work order tracking system and PRISMS informational system Experience: Prefer a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the weight handling field as a licensed crane operator, rigger, crane mechanic, weight handling program supervisor or administrator; provide certificates from accredited training institutions that verify completion of training in these field Must have the ability to conduct training classes on Category 3 crane safety and rigging gear Required Training, Licenses and Certifications: CDL Train the Trainer Weight handling licenses Load Test Director Crane Operator, Rigger, Mechanic Information Assurance Confined Spaces Fall Protection Load Test Director SECURITY CLEARANCE: Secret security clearance is required.

Applicants selected must be a US Citizen in order to apply for a Secret Security Clearance Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment, and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.
