VP of Engineering

Job Summary

We are looking for someone to fill a VP of Engineering Position to grow and lead teams that build top-notch applications for our Care Provider teams and Data Consumers.

Your leadership will inspire the team to think big and execute swiftly on groundbreaking, valuable technologies that will enable eMBRY Health to offer a digital health clinic of the future.

This role will report to the CTO and partner with him on the Technology vision and strategy for their space and set eMBRY Health for higher growth that it is experiencing as we venture into broader health programs and markets.

They will help the company secure a reputation in the industry for high-touch, innovative, and well-crafted technology.

What You’ll Do:

• Raise the bar on technical excellence and code quality metrics
• Consistently achieve a high delivery rate of high-value features across a spectrum of small to big bets while ensuring a high on-time delivery rate
• Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains management staff in the department.
• Build an energetic high-performance culture and strong morale
• Oversee the daily workflow of the department.
• Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
• Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
• Oversees the preparation and final approval of project plans
• Conducts or acquires cost analysis for development projects; prepares or delegates preparation of the schedule of project completion dates.
• Ensures that projects are completed within budget and in an economical manner.
• Establishes and implements the strategic direction of the company’s engineering and development initiatives.
• Collaborates with the company’s executive leadership to develop and meet organizational goals while supplying expertise and guidance on projects, operations, and systems.
• Identifies, recommends, and implements new technologies and systems to improve organizational processes and decision-making.
• Ensures that departmental decisions such as staffing, development, organization, hardware acquisitions, and facilities are in line with the organization’s business plan and vision.
• Establishes, communicates, and implements engineering and development policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent operations.
• Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in engineering and development related to the organization’s industry.
• Negotiates cost-effective contracts for the organization; coordinates and implements contractors’ work, and resolves any disputes over labor, scheduling, or payments.
• Performs other duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For:

• Expertise in Mobile app development including release management, observability, and performance.

  Fluent in modern web development and modern front end frameworks.

• Proficiency in high availability Distributed event-driven system design including hybrid 1st and 3rd party systems.
• Fluency in the latest data warehousing, data analytics and insights technologies with an ability to support a large number of concurrent business users across multiple business domains.
• Ability to collaborate with partners in product and design to present an inspiring technical vision that attracts top talent.
• Results-driven.

• Proven ability to lead through others, setting up mechanisms to stay connected to details as well as communicate effectively with people across the org working across a diverse portfolio.
