This is a Full-time position in Washington, DC posted October 8, 2021.

Role Can be 100% remote but candidates must be local to DC/MD/VA for when the offices open.
Interview process will be a zoom and consist of 1 step.
The person in this role will be responsible for fielding requests and researching the archive system for footage. Additionally, they will be responsible to insure the footage is cleared for usage.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must have experience working with various digital asset management systems, Microsoft Office, Boolean searching, Pinnacle or other digitizing system and digital delivery.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills and an ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of professional video production process and documentation, film, video capture methods. Demonstrable understanding of digital asset management key-wording and transfer treatments essential.
  • Demonstrated ability for clear, consistent and customer service-oriented communication with the capability of adopting the style, tone and voice of the department to the client base.
  • Must have strong computer skills, including proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and business presentation applications (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.)
  • Must be highly motivated and independent with attention to detail. Must be able to initiate and follow projects through to their conclusion.

escription/Comment: The Video Researcher will be responsible for searching our video collections to find material appropriate for client’s specifications. Will be responsible to ensure footage is cleared for sale in the respective market, noting any restrictions on the sale and/or permissions needed for and create usage licenses.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Working with internal and external video productions to determine video assets needed for various projects as well as advising them on rights. Will research short form and long form programming for digital signage, education and various other clients.
  • Research NG asset management databases to find appropriate footage to meet clients’ specifications. This includes searching legacy databases to source subjects only currently available to view from tape. Create digital previews and shot sheets for clients.
  • Liaises with Archive staff to provide feedback of current Archive inventory and needs. Will help prioritize videos waiting for ingest and guide colleagues with subsequent editing choices.
  • Liaises with the Video Rights Team to determine what licensing rights are available and find restrictions inherent in footage provided to clients. Provides feedback regarding legal issues with assets to allow for efficient reuse.
  • Consult on declarations and creating licenses for footage use to be included in electronic legal binders, including drafting declarations by entering the footage usage into database, rights checking, usage calculation and data confirmation
