The mission of URBAN ACT Academy is to empower students as leaders and to develop globally competitive scholars and informed citizens.

The place-based learning component of our educational model is a key tool for helping students understand the relevance of their learning in relation to their own diverse identities and personal lives.Essential functions of an URBAN ACT Academy Culture Specialist include but are not limited to:Developing Intervention StrategiesAssist staff in defining and measuring behavior; understanding principles of reinforcing; teaching new behaviors; implementing strategies for weakening behavior; and identifying antecedentsPromote highly specialized positive behavior interventions in which “at risk” students thriveWork with school team on issues such as crisis intervention, learning and collaboration issues, and factors that can affect development and implementation of interventionsDevelop a repertoire of assessment strategies and use to measure student progressFacilitate conflict resolution and peer mediation sessionsCreating a Culture of LearningCreate a positive, achievement focused learning environment that motivates students to participate and excel at high levelsWork with the school community in using the Restorative Framework and principles as well as the URBAN ACT Academy school culture guide to build relationships and to promote a culture of fairness and respect for allImplement school-wide and classroom procedures, systems and routines to provide structure, ensure the safety and well-being of our scholars and to maximize instructional timeFamily and Community RelationsMaintain timely and open lines of ongoing communication with families, communicating thoughtfully and respectfullyWork collaboratively with families and community members to facilitate team meetings with the purpose of completing a functional behavior assessmentEngage parents in the student behavior intervention plan process and empower parents by providing them with skills and techniques to support the positive behavior development of their childProfessionalism and Continued DevelopmentParticipate in all professional development meetings including summer institute, orientation, school retreats and team building activitiesCollaborate with others to improve instruction and school cultureEngage in on-going professional development to increase knowledge and skills of positive student behavior support for all studentsFulfill all functions related to the role of the behavior interventionist as assigned by the Head of School in a timely and thorough mannerMinimum Qualifications:Education: Bachelors’ degreeCertification: Behavior Specialist Certification (or willingness to seek valid state certification if needed)Compensation: Starting pay for position is $42,000 commensurate with experience.Powered by JazzHRMhaRxxdKXf
