Underwriting Assistant I

Under direct supervision, learns the technical aspects of the underwriting process.Responsibilities:* Learns to use the underwriting system (GENIUS) to enter and clear submissions, book premium, and generate invoices to be mailed to broker.* Learns to prepare the file used in policy construction and follow up with brokers and/or underwriters regarding outstanding questions and/or paperwork (e.g., subjectivities, underlying policies, policy information, etc.)* Learns to identify all required forms and materials related to policy issuance learns to prepare policy and endorsements (monetary non-monetary) via Policy Document Management system (PDM) or manually.* Learns and assists in handling various requests/inquiries from brokers and/or underwriters to include premium information, loss information, policy changes, submitting request for loss control visit, etc.* Learns and assists in preparing activity logs that track steps leading up to policy issuance and perform reconciliations against reports generated from underwriting system.* Learns to interact with other departments including Finance and Compliance to resolve discrepancies and/or issues.* Learns to handle pre-renewal activity to include preparing mailing renewal letters.* Associate Degree or equivalent work experience.* Working knowledge of PC based systems and applications such as Microsoft Office and data-based systems.* Strong verbal, reading and written communication skillsAt Liberty Mutual, our purpose is to help people embrace today and confidently pursue tomorrow.
