Generac is seeking a UI/UX Design Lead for within our Waukesha Connectivity team.
The UI/UX Design Lead translates high-level requirements into engaging user experiences within the Connectivity team.
This individual excels at providing both highly analytical as well as highly creative ideas to a design engagement.
This position acts as a supervisor and mentor to other UI/UX designers within the Connectivity Team.
· Review business requirements and create wireframes/mockups.
· Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas
· Establish the UI/UX processes for design and validation of designs and features consistent with the connectivity software development framework and the enterprise UI/UX processes.
Processes include the development of design guidelines and standards, usability validation, journey mapping, and persona development.
· Establish and select the tools used by the UI/UX design team to complete tasks such as user input, wireframing, hi and low fidelity mock-ups, and design validation
· Manage the performance and workload of the Connectivity UI/UX designers
· Set clear expectations to inspire and motivate the design team
· Establish and execute development plans to grow the talent within the team
· Conduct user research activities such as user interviews, observations and interacting with stakeholders.
Create user personals, user flows and journey mappings
· Plan and execute user testing
· Interface with Product managers and UI/UX designers in other functional areas within Generac to ensure user journeys, roadmaps, and processes are aligned between Connectivity and the rest of the Enterprise
· Participate in planning meetings with decision makers and stakeholders to define Interface and usability requirements for applications and features
· Other Duties as assigned including:
o Iterate and collaborate with stakeholders within an Agile environment
o Create UI components and maintain style guide/design systems
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design, UX Design, Industrial Design, Human Factors or related field or equivalent experience
· 7 years experience in commercial software development for both mobile and desktop
· 7 years of experience in design
· 3 years of experience leading, coaching, or mentoring technical employees
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Working knowledge of Motion graphics design and production, Android and iOS devices
· Experience with user interface design patterns and standard UCD methodologies
Experience working cross-functionally and with a global team
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Ability to conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks Proficient with wireframing tools such as Balsamiq, Sketch, Adobe XD or Illustrator Proficient with prototyping tools such as Miro, Figma, Axure, JustInMind, or InVision Ability to execute interaction design as a part of a multi-disciplinary team Ability to consult with internal customers and own experience design decisions Ability to collaborate on user experience planning with solution architect
Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.
The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.
On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.
The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting; close vision and ability to adjust focus.
