Tutors – Hiring Bonus!

Lindamood-Bell

This is a Full-time position in Edina, MN posted September 16, 2021.

Hiring Bonus Available! New hires starting on or after 8/9/21 will be paid a bonus of $400 after working at least eight (8) weeks.  If you have worked for Lindamood-Bell in the past, please ask about our Rehire Bonus.

We are looking for energetic, positive individuals to work as Instructors (Tutors) in a Lindamood-Bell® Learning Center. We teach students of all ages to read and comprehend to their potential, including those with a previous diagnosis such as dyslexia or autism spectrum disorder.

Lindamood-Bell instruction is implemented by Instructors we call Clinicians, under the guidance of Learning Center instructional leaders utilizing our co-founders’ evidence-based programs.  Clinicians work with students individually, in small group settings, and/or online, implementing specific lesson plans for reading, language comprehension, and math. They may also facilitate curriculum for students enrolled in our private school, Lindamood-Bell Academy.

These are regular full-time and part-time positions. Paid training in the programs used by Lindamood-Bell is provided.  Required hours during the paid training are generally 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday, for two weeks.  Following the training, full-time employees will be scheduled at least 30 hours a week, and part-time employees will generally be scheduled less than 30 hours a week.

Bachelor’s degree preferred. Associate’s degree or actively pursuing a degree is acceptable.

Lindamood-Bell Instructor Expectations:

  • Utilize a Socratic questioning method to help students develop their language and literacy skills.
  • Implement positive-reinforcement strategies that maximize learning, in a cheerful and authentic manner.
  • Possess excellent reading, spelling, and comprehension skills
  • Possess basic computer skills and ability to type notes about student performance while leading engaging sessions.
  • Have a passion for helping others reach their potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and/or small group instruction, in-person or online, based upon each client’s learning needs.
  • Work with the Center Director or Center Manager, Associate Center Director, and Consultants to implement client instruction plans.
  • Facilitate the use of curriculum provided for Lindamood-Bell Academy students.
  • Interact positively and professionally with clients and staff to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Occasionally aid a student with the bathroom or getting in and out of the instructional site.
  • Use tablet, portable computer, or other technology to manage client records.
