First shift starts at 7:00 a.m and the end time will vary.
The Switcher I is responsible for the transport of full and empty trailers between the docks and the designated drop parking locations in the “Trailer Yard” to support the inbound unloading and the outbound loading warehouse operations in a safe, accurate, and efficient manner.
This position is also responsible for inspecting the trailers for any discovered issues of mechanical maintenance needs before moving, “tagging out” any trailers when such issues are discovered, and communicating any discovered issues to warehouse management and, or fleet maintenance.
This position may also occasionally be required to operate a forklift and, or other PIT equipment within the warehouse.
Duties & Responsibilities Transports full and empty trailers between the docks and designated drop parking spaces.
Performs inspection of trailers before transporting to identify issues of mechanical maintenance needs and, or potential safety hazards.
Maintains organization of the trailer yard to ensure the efficient and safe transporting of trailers.
Maintains cleanliness and safety of work area and warehouse Performs other tasks including pallet building as determined and requested by management.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Requires getting in and out of Switcher Tractor (continuously climbing steps).
Ability to read, write, and use a radio.
Ability to work in a fast-paced atmosphere while walking and repetitively lifting 30 lbs.
Ability to lift to 75 lbs.
Ability to collaborate within a team environment.
Ability to coordinate and organize efficient and dependable warehouse processes.
Ability to adapt to needs of role in different work areas throughout the workday and meet minimum expectations of those different work areas.
Ability to read and interpret instructions from a computer screen.
Attention to detail and ability to differentiate our packages.
Ability to work while exposed to the elements and in a noisy and non-climate controlled (Hot in summer, cold in winter) environment.

Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED Knowledge acquired through 1 to up to 3 years of work experience Preferred Qualifications PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) Certification: Pallet Jack, Forklift, Double Forklift, and Switch Tractor.
