This is a Full-time position in Washington, DC posted September 20, 2021.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Patient Access Associates I in Washington, DC. Key Tasks:

  • Patient Access Associate interviews patients, relatives, or friends of patients to capture demographic data and financial data to expedite a registration that includes pre-admitting patients and creating a chart
  • Review admission (Inpatient and Outpatient) forms to reconcile Financial Class (FC) status
  • As a Patient Access Associate, you maintain accuracy to patient data base (update demographic and financial data)
  • Point of service collections
  • Answers telephone and relays information accurately and courteously
  • Verify Insurance data
  • Patient Access Associates obtain outpatient/inpatient authorization numbers on various required insurance plans
  • Confirm coordination of benefits
  • Medical necessity screening
  • Utilize all insurance verification systems via phone, internet, EVS Medicaid system
  • Patient Access Associates provide good customer service to our internal and external customers
  • Comply to HIPPAA standard requirements
  • Other job duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma/GED
  • Insurance eligibility and pre-certification experience at 3 years
  • Knowledge of standard hospital organizational structure
  • Ability to initiate and exchange information
  • Exercise judgment
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, and procedure codes
  • Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Microsoft Outlook
  • Meditech
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Customer Service internal and external
  • Organizational skills
  • Problem solving manage multiple and continually changing priorities and make rapid and accurate decisions
  • Ability to lift, walk, carry, stand, sit and bend
  • DC/Maryland Medicaid experience at least one year
  • Capable of using computer for data entry, Medicaid, Blue Cross, Internet and typing
