Supervising Producer, Live Shopping (Project Based)

The Role

BuzzFeed is looking for a creative and resourceful Supervising Producer who can oversee a slate of compelling long form live broadcast video content from our Live Shopping team.

Must be a native of the digital and pop cultural landscape with an intimate knowledge of the latest and greatest in live media, content, and emerging technology/platforms. 

For this role, we are specifically looking for someone with management experience who has a strong understanding of development through publishing workflows and has a passion for working on live broadcast video.

This role has the opportunity to shape BuzzFeed’s voice in the livestreaming space and develop new compelling IP.

This job is fixed-term until the end of February 2022 with a potential option to extend, and is based in Los Angeles or New York.

You Will 

  • Work with a team of producers to develop new live formats and series ideas.
  • Oversee a programming slate of editorial live shopping series. 
  • Report into the Director of Editorial Video and drive content decisions based on department goals.
  • Work closely with the Social team, Producers, and Project Managers to slate out series air times.
  • Manage strict deadlines to ensure live productions air on time and in the best quality.
  • Analyze past streams and work with Stats, Social, and Executive Producer to continually improve show performance.
  • Collaborate with the Branded team to support the development and execution of live formats with attached brand partners.
  • Explore editorial partnerships for new live formats and series with social platforms (e.g.

    TikTok, Instagram).

  • Push creative limits to develop highly engaging and massively appealing content.
  • Ensure productions are on track and following timelines.
  • Collaborate with video and digital teams to ideate and develop new content.
  • Point of contact responsible for communicating project updates to Social, Production, and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct personal research and find examples of successful content across tv, film, social media, and other media to make calculated risks when developing new formats.
  • Directly manage a team of 2-3 producers.
  • Work independently to deliver quality results with minimal supervision

You Have

  • 5+ years of experience creating video content for a digital platform
  • Experience in Live Broadcasting, Digital or Traditional
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Intermediate experience in live software such as OBS and Vmix is a plus
  • Works well under pressure and highly adept at problem solving in those situations
  • Proven ability to develop compelling, shareable web video
  • Can manage multiple concurrent projects
