We are currently looking for students to join our team as Event Planners.

This is a great opportunity to gain professional work experience with flexible hours, while attending classes.

HOURLY RATE: $10.50Duties:KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:Strong attention to detail, ability to work with minimal supervision, ability to complete tasks thoroughly and responsibly.

Ability to work with a team to co-plan programs and work toward group consensus.

Specialized tasks with skills to be developed to include the planning, promotion, facilitation, evaluation, and reporting of campus wide events.It is also necessary that the applicant be able to lift up to 40lbs with or without accommodations, and stand for long periods of time.

The applicant must be reliable, punctual, have a strong work ethic, and have excellent communication skills.

Successful candidates are energetic, dynamic, and have a desire to learn and grow.REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:Previous experience working on a team is preferred.TYPICAL EDUCATION OR TRAINING:Students should have experience with one or more of the following: 1) Organizing recreational and social activities; 2) Food preparation that meets Anchorage Municipality standards; 3) General home maintenance and repair which can translate to art gallery upkeep; 4) CPR and First Aid Training and/or experience preparing risk assessments for off-campus events; 5) Sound and light technical experience for entertainment programming; 6) Planning menus and events within a budget, and creating shopping inventories; 7) Writing press releases for local newspapers about events and exhibitions; and 8) Cash handling experienceJOB DUTIES:+ Meetings: The Event Assistant will attend weekly meetings with the Student Activities staff+ Marketing: The Event Assistant will work with the SLL graphics and marketing team to develop materials to promote positive mental and physical health.+ Event Assistance: When time permits, the Event Assistant will assist with events planned and organized by other Student Activities and Commuter Programs Event Planners.

This may consist of serving food, checking tickets, etc.+ Event Organization: The Event Assistant will take a lead role to conceptualize, plan, and deliver one (or more) social or educational event during the course of the year, such as video game competitions, lecturers, comedians, musicians, spoken word artists, gameshows, outdoor recreational activities, cultural events, and other social programming.+ Gallery Attending: Event Planners may assist with attending the gallery, welcoming visitors, and offering them information about the show.HOURLY RATE:$10.50Reasonable Accommodation Statement:The University of Alaska (UA) is responsible for providing reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities throughout the applicant screening process.
