Staff Scientist, Ecotoxicology

Job Description

With over 30 years of experience in the crop protection industry, Eurofins Agroscience Services offers outstanding technical knowledge and project management skills.  By acquiring a carefully selected range of CRO’s, Eurofins Agroscience Services has created a unique portfolio of expertise that provides analytical, regulatory, and field support to plant breeders, agrochemical, biopesticide, biocide, and fine chemical manufacturers.

Eurofins Agroscience Services is searching for a Staff Scientist, Ecotoxicology to work in Easton, MD.

Staff Scientist responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Plans own work and may supervise the day-to-day activities in a laboratory/greenhouse setting under prescribed processes (protocols, standard operating procedures, methods, etc.)
  • Examine test organisms for signs of illness, disease, and/or injury sustained in the laboratory/greenhouse.
  • Collect and analyze biological data
  • Provides guidance to technical staff on the proper conduct of study assignments
  • Completes highly complex work for research and development under GLP guidelines for studies, documentation, etc.
  • Performs data analysis, first level and peer review of data. 
  • Writes reports on studies.
  • Works with independence on studies and assignments.
  • Typically serves as project leader/study director on assigned projects and may serve as technical leader within a group or team.
  • Serves as point of contact for internal and external customers.
  • Trains staff on techniques.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate would possess:

  • Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies

Basic Minimum Qualifications:

  • M.S. degree in an appropriate field (e.g. biology, agronomy, environmental science, or plant science) preferred with 10 years of experience in plant testing or greenhouse work. Candidates with a lesser degree but with longer direct experience will also be considered.
  • Ability to prepare chemical solutions and provide supporting calculations.
  • Familiarity with or aptitude for basic statistical analyses.
  • Ability to read and understand scientific information and use this knowledge to generate coherent reports.
  • Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Actively looking for ways to help people.
  • Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with overtime as needed.  Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Easton, MD are encouraged to apply.
