Sr. Computational Simulation Engineer

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

This is a Contract position in Rensselaer County, NY posted May 1, 2020.

Level to be determined based on qualifications relevant to the role Summary: This role leads component and simulation projects within the Combination Product Development department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Plan and execute simulation projects to support medical device R&D teams to reduce time and expense of device development.

Simulations may be in the areas of solid mechanics (FEA), thermal/fluid systems (CFD), system modeling and/or statistics.

• Utilize ANSYS Fluent, ANSYS Mechanical, Matlab/Simulink, Excel, and/or hand calculations.

• Evaluate existing simulation technology and implement new methods of simulation-driven innovative product development.

• Prepare validation protocols and conduct or oversee tests to validate simulations in accordance with ASME V&V 40 standards and FDA guidelines.

• Incorporate simulation results into the design of parts and systems for medical drug delivery devices.

• Write reports and make technical presentations to shape design decisions and document work.

• Mentor and train others in the areas of FEA, CFD and system modeling.

• Communicates with transparency and active listening Education and Experience:
• Candidate should have at least a bachelor’s degree in engineering in the fields of Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, with five or more years of progressive experience in mechanical design.

Candidates with advanced degrees are preferred.

• Candidate should be recognized as an expert in the use of FEA, CFD or other simulation environments.

Experience with ANSYS products, Solidworks and Matlab is strongly preferred.
