SPECTRUM: Analytics Engineer

JOB SCOPEThe Systems Engineer is responsible for assisting in maintaining, upgrading, troubleshooting, and upgrading the Confluent Kafka environment..

In addition, there will be a limited level of admin support for other team-owned applications, such as Hadoop and Kafka.

Splunk would still be the primary area of focus for this role.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvide end to end network management and support for the enterprise Splunk deploymentDevelopment and document standards, process and procedures for forethinking operational efficiencies on the Kafka platformProvide cutting edge solutions for internal customer applicationsWorking closely with other teams and collaborating with other team membersPlanning and implementing future developments on all OSS platform deployed applicationsWork in a team environment and collaborative role with other members of the OSS platform team as well as selected vendors to provide state of the art long term, technical solutionsCollaborate on design and implementation for internal application customers with team membersBASIC/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelors degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or related field or equivalent work experienceMinimum of one (1) years of experience working with the Kafka platform ADDITIONAL JOB QUALIFICATIONSExperience working with the following technologies: Splunk, Unix/Linux [RedHat/CentOS], scripting language, (such as Python or PERL), SQL (enough working knowledge to support Splunk DBConnect), IP networking protocols, Github, bitbucket.Solid understanding of network elementsExperience with a large clustered Splunk environment:Building appsProper sourcetypingSyslog server managementLarge scale user environment with multiple deployment serversStrong environment troubleshooting backgroundSplunk Enterprise Security managementPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSCertified Linux AdministratorExperience working within Telecommunications and cable industryOracle or database admin certificationVendor related network certificationsGraduate degree or high level of technical certifications.
