Description:
Special Education Secretary, Cheshire High School. This is a ten-month position and closely follows the school calendar. The weekly schedule is 35 hours.
Provides secretarial support of a confidential nature. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Scheduling Planning and Placement Team meetings; collaborative team meetings; parent meetings; observations, and evaluation across multiple calendars.
- The maintenance of confidential student records in the district’s electronic database and in the corresponding paper files
- Assisting team members with scheduling various tasks as needed; Securing and assigning substitute coverage; generates reports and letters
- Responsible for the school’s compliance rating with state and federal agencies regarding special education
Supervised By:
Receives task direction from the Supervisor of Special Education and the School Principal and/or his/her designee.
Qualifications:
The qualified candidate will possess the following attributes:
- Able to follow multi-step directions and carry out the assigned tasks thoroughly and with accuracy
- Manage long-term projects
- Possess strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to operate multiple web-based applications
- Must be able to relate positively to parents, staff members, students, and the general public at all times, being able to maintain decorum in a fast-paced and stressful environment
- A paralegal background is beneficial and public school experience is preferred
Salary:
In accordance with the Agreement Between Cheshire Board of Education and the Cheshire Educational Secretaries and Technicians United. Grade 3 Starting Salary $23.84/hour. Benefits Available.
