SUMMARY
Nexamp is seeking a Solar Performance Analyst, Commissioning to join the Nexamp Energy Center (NEC) team.
This analyst will specialize in commissioning new photovoltaics (PV) and battery energy storage systems (BESS) projects remotely.
The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys troubleshooting, has a background in PV or BESS systems, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Interact with owners, utilities, 3rd party vendors, off-takers, operations, and maintenance (O&M) providers, and subcontractors.
Assist Engineering, Procurement, and Construction with the commissioning of projects, and provide remote support to technicians in the field
Perform and review PV and BESS capacity and performance tests to Independent Engineer’s (IE) standards
Work alongside IE to determine capacity testing standards
Perform remote site set up on various monitoring and asset management platforms
Assist in getting PV and storage projects to substantial completion at full performance, and support Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) team with necessary supplemental documentation
Work on expanding Nexamp’s commissioning support library to assist with future training and troubleshooting efforts
Act as remote subject matter expert pertaining to the troubleshooting and commissioning of EMS and BESS systems.
Ensure timely updates to PMs and interested parties on project status and next steps
Provide feedback to EPC on design and product issues
Remotely commission DAS and SCADA systems for PV and battery storage systems.
Provide technical support on programming, configuration of smart electrical equipment to field technicians.
Complete performance tests for new PV arrays.
Complete and review capacity tests on battery storage systems.
Defend tests and methodologies with independent engineer reviews.
QUALIFICATIONS
Relevant college degree and coursework in energy systems, equipment automation, networking, and/or engineering preferred
1-2 years of experience in electrical systems, commissioning, or monitoring, preferably PV or BESS related
A combination of work experience and education can qualify candidates for this position
Strong oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of BESS, PV, and related components (e.g.
DC battery systems, inverter technology, transformers and switchgear), and electrical characteristics (e.g.
power, energy, voltage, amperage, phase, power factor).
Networking and SCADA knowledge preferred
Takes responsibility for all work activities with a strong ability to multitask and manage competing deadlines
Strong troubleshooting skills including use of multimeter to identify issues
Basic understanding of electrical single line and three line drawings
Understanding of serial communications, analog and digital sensors
