That’s why we’re so proud to have a highly productive and engaged team in every function of the company.Vertica is seeking a Software Reliability Engineer to expand the VAAS (Vertica as a Service) capabilities of its analytic database engine.

It is an exciting time to join the team.Your role will be:* Responding to service outages and part of an on-call rotation.* Conduct incident response and postmortems.* Building software to help operations, monitoring service uptime.* Monitoring availability, latency and overall system health.* Designing and documenting service recovery playbooks, considering different outage scenarios.* Contribute to the software lifecycle from design, deployment operations and refinement.* Support customers as they go live.Required* BS in Computer Science or related technical field (or equivalent experience)* 5+ years of experience* Bash, Linux, Python (Comfortable with Linux command line)* Excellent communication, ability to describe a problem in a technical mannerDesired* Experience managing hosted applications* At least four years of experience with python or a similar scripting language* Experience integrating software* Basic Network experience, load balancers, DNS* Basic understanding of distributed systems* Understanding of REST API’s and how to interact with themAbout our teamThe best ideas often come from fresh perspectives.
