DESCRIPTION
JOB SUMMARY
This position is in Supply Chain Management under the Supplier Sustainability & Inclusive Growth (SSIG) and Governance section.
This position is responsible for supporting the daily operations and the business solutions necessary for the successful management of the supplier master database SMART by GEP as well as support Southern Companies procure to pay process in adherence with departmental guidelines and audit controls.
This position is a high-volume transaction role.
This position may be filled as SIPS Specialist I (SCO – 02) or Senior (SCO – 03).
Individuals who demonstrate advanced skills in terms of work experience, education, and certifications may be eligible for the more advanced position.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
Experience
1 to 2 years work experience in a utility or other professional business setting is desired.
Knowledge and Skills
Customer service oriented
Knowledge of supply chain business processes
Excellent organizational skills
Strong time management abilities
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
Experienced with Microsoft Office programs to include Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
Ability to manage multiple priorities
Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information
Problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential
Ability to work independently
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Subject matter expert for SMART by GEP, Oracle, Maximo, business processes, data, workflow.
Maintain the supplier master database within the Accounting and Supply Chain systems: process requests to add, change, or inactivate suppliers based on requests and using established processes and procedures
Analyze data to identify problematic areas and suggest improvements.
Audit data on a regular basis to ensure data integrity according to requirements established through internal controls.
Ensure supplier’s information is compliant with Supply Chain’s objectives.
Perform monthly diversity reconciliation.
Manage workflows and keep records current.
Develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers.
Define data elements and establish policies and procedures.
Train staff and business units as necessary on data operational activities.
Establish and foster relationships with essential workgroups.
Knowledge of the 1099, B-Notice, and tax reporting processes.
Research the IRS database for Tax Identification Number (TIN) matching and 1099 reporting verification.
Participate on special projects as needed.
