Maveris is seeking a Junior Cyber Security Engineer to join our elite and growing team. The Cyber Security Engineer will support a large Federal Government customer in the analysis and improvement of the customer’s Information Technology organization. Cyber Security Engineers ensure our customer’s software, hardware and overall computer systems are secured and protected from cyber-attacks. You’ll utilize best-practices and standards described in NIST’s Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Cyber Security Framework (CSF) to ensure new and existing systems are adhering to all required security controls, free of high risk vulnerabilities, and hardened against cyber threats.Veterans encouraged to apply. Candidates must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance as part of the onboarding process.The candidate will need to be within a commutable distance of Washington, D.C. for occasional on-site events.Telework schedule available with up to 90% of work performed remotely.Multiple positions are available, junior through senior, with compensation being commensurate with experience.DutiesIn this role, a typical day will includePerform security analysis to determine gap, compensating/mitigating controls, and residual riskIdentify security risks through the security impact analysis, system risk assessments and technology security risk reportsApply knowledge of security principles, policy, and regulationsConduct security compliance evaluations on IT products to create secure configuration guidelines and baselinesAnalyze security evaluation tools results from Tenable Nessus, Nmap, Wireshark and MetasploitDevelop secure configuration guidelines and perform security compliant evaluations on various IT product types Operating Systems, Network Devices, Databases, Cloud Applications, etc.Organize, develop, and present security briefings, written summaries, and written reports incorporating narrative, tabular and/or graphic elements on security assessments, whitepapers relating to computer and network security technologies and toolsEffectively and efficiently communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers of any hardware and software configuration changes that adversely affect any current system security and their configurations or violates policyImplement the Cyber Security requirements of IT systems and applications documenting them in formal security engineering documents using Risk Management Framework and supporting artifacts associated with risk assessments.Implement IT security solutions and assures successful implementationWorking in FedRAMP approved cloud environments and help with cloud service provider security control responsibilities and customer responsibilitiesRequirementsAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Assurance, Information Security, Information Resource Management, or related fields.Two years of Information Security Experience of which at least one year is of Cybersecurity and Cloud Security experience at a large Government agency similar in size/scope to GSA, IRS, DoD or VA, etc. One or more of the following DoD 8570 approved certifications IAT I, IAM I or IASAE I certifications (A+, Network +, Security+, Cloud+, CCNA Security, CAP, CND, etc)NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Federal A&A experience Exceptional written and verbal communication skillsExceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skillsSelf-starter that can work under general direction in a highly collaborative, team-based environmentBenefitsMaveris attracts and retains talent of the highest caliber by offering opportunities to work in exciting and challenging environments surrounded by bright minds.
