Senior RF Capacity Engineer – ENG001572

Please Note: This position can be based in either Madison – WI, Chicago – IL, Knoxville – TN, Tulsa – OK or Urbandale – IA

Holds responsibility for overall capacity design, planning, and implementation for the existing and future wireless network. Takes forecast from marketing and dimensions the network based on that forecast. Seeks total customer satisfaction through meeting subscriber demand. Solicits input (from Sales, Marketing, and RSO) while working with RF Engineers, Network Performance Engineers, and Network Engineers to achieve this goal!

  • Responsible for voice and data capacity on all platforms of Radio Access Network. Use historical and marketing forecast to dimension the network to meet the future capacity needs.
  • Develop and maintain capacity standards and processes. Evaluate and drive new technologies into RF network for capacity benefits.
  • Proactively identify RF Capacity problem areas and recommend solutions. Responsible for adjusting capacity related parameters and making sure that all performance metrics are satisfied.
  • Assist in developing, monitoring and tracking of capacity budget. Assist with root cause determination of capacity incidents and recommend the best solution. Coordinate with both internal teams and external vendors to develop solutions.
  • Work with RF, and System Performance engineers to plan, implement and optimize the capacity as needed. Initiate and maintain collaborative open communications between all departments to promote open dialog and best solutions!

Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field; or equivalent work or military experience. 5 to 8 years relevant work experience.

Extensive LTE knowledge and 5G experience. Advanced and up to date technological understanding of company’s wireless network parameters and Key Performance Indicators.

Knowledge of statistical and digital communications, antennas, propagation, link budgets, and the air interface standard. Knowledge of Traffic Engineering and (Capacity) Planning. Proficient with Tableau, R/Python, and database.

Ability to prioritize, adapt and meet changing work needs seamlessly and effectively. Ability to work well with a diverse group of people and able to work independently and assist colleagues unprompted. Ability to travel as needed. Capital budgeting experience as well as experience in AI/ML and site/Network optimization experience is preferred.
