As a Senior Regulatory Engineer, you will be working with a talented team of architects, scientists, product managers, UI/UXD specialists, Software, Hardware, and QA engineers located in our Fishers, IN, office.

Our teams are spread across several locations including Boston MA, Indianapolis IN, Belfast UK, Tel-Aviv Israel, Bangalore & Delhi India, Montreal Canada, Boca Raton FL, and Los Angeles CA.

What you will do

The Senior Regulatory Compliance Engineer is responsible for ensuring Johnson Controls Video Security product compliance with regulatory requirements for product safety, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), and hazardous substances restrictions.

Works with design teams to provide guidance, evaluate designs and test for compliance.

Works with regulatory agencies and their standards to define and interpret requirements and to obtain and maintain certifications.

This position is based in Fishers, IN, and employees have the opportunity to work remote half the time. 

How you will do it

  • Evaluate product designs to ensure compliance in the final design and p rovide interpretations of requirements to design teams and give ongoing feedback and data to design teams
  • Write and maintain the reports required to document regulatory compliance
  • Work with suppliers, utilities, agencies and 3rd party test laboratories for the purposes of obtaining testing and evaluation services and maintaining product approvals
  • Obtaining interpretations of requirements
  • Plan and manage all compliance tasks for assigned programs
  • Perform product safety, utility interconnection and EMC testing and produce formal test reports for agencies, electric utilities and design teams
  • Perform as a cross-functional team member to achieve the technical, schedule and budget objectives of product development projects
  • Stay current with applicable skills and trends in regulatory compliance

Qualifications

What we look for
Required

  • Engineering degree
    – preferably Electrical Engineering
  • At least 5 years of experience in product safety standards compliance, preferably in the Video Security electronics industry
  • Extensive knowledge of current worldwide regulations, standards, and test methodology applicable to product safety, and ideally also utility interconnection, EMC, and hazardous substances restrictions
  • Ability to read schematics and specifications and to perform circuit analysis
  • Hands-on skills
    – setting up and performing testing on access control and security systems, troubleshooting, soldering, etc.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with emphasis on the ability to create high quality technical reports, test reports, specifications, and procedures
  • Ability to communicate complex technical requirements clearly and concisely
  • Ability to work effectively with multi-disciplined design teams globally

Preferred

  • Preference given to candidates with one or more of the following:
  • Experience with IEC 62368-1, UL 62368, CE/FCC emissions, BIS, CCC.
  • Tyco | Exacq or their competitors products
