Senior Principal Engineer-Foundry Industrial Engineering

This is a Full-time position in Phoenix, AZ posted December 6, 2021.

As an integral part of Intels new IDM2.0 strategy, we are establishing Intel Foundry Services (IFS), a fully vertical, standalone foundry business, reporting directly to the CEO.

IFS will be a world-class foundry business and major provider of US and European-based capacity to serve customers globally.

Intel Foundry Services will be differentiated from other Foundry offerings with a combination of leading-edge packaging and process technology, committed capacity in the US and Europe
– available for customers globally
– and a world-class IP portfolio that customers can choose from including x86 cores, graphics, media, display, AI, interconnect, fabric and other critical foundational IP, along with Arm and RISC-V ecosystem IPs.

IFS will also provide access to silicon design services to help our customers seamlessly turn silicon into solutions, using industry standard design packages.

This business unit is completely dedicated to the success of its customers with full Profit and Loss responsibilities.

This model will ensure that our foundry customers products will receive our utmost focus in terms of service, technology enablement and capacity commitments.

IFS is already engaged with customers today starting with our existing foundry offerings and we are expanding imminently to include our most advanced technologies, which are optimized for cutting-edge performance, making them ideal for high-performance applications.

About the Role

Intel Foundry Services is looking for an industry technology leader who has experience in increasing productivity and decreasing wafer cost by driving technical, operational, and quality improvements within fab.

The goal is to eliminate wastefulness in processes and systems and to continuously drive improvements in space management, tool productivity, and commodity and spares costs.

This includes improving people productivity and asset effectiveness.

Responsibilities:

  • Set a vision for constant cost and productivity improvements year over year, setting ambitious targets and plans to achieve
  • Constantly build in design and improvement across quality, productivity, efficiency and cost
  • Drive and deliver competitive capacity/tool/space utilization based on foundry industry benchmarks
  • Drive solutions to complex problems in highly matrixed environment
  • Collaborate and lead across organizations

Key Requirements:

  • Strong technical skills, involving problem solving and issue root causing in a pressured environment
  • Interpersonal skills of leadership, project management, communication, influencing and negotiation
  • Partnership: Constant collaboration with multiple functional teams across internal factories and customers
  • Flexibility in working hours.

    Evening and weekend work will be required.

    The job may also require significant domestic travel, along with international travel

  • Deep technical expertise with wafer fab background is required.
  • In-depth understanding of wafer and die test, yield, and assembly test manufacturing is desired.
  • Familiarity with quality systems and control
  • Strong communication skills-both written and verbal.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS/PhD degree of Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, or related engineering background with 15+ years of wafer fabrication experience
  • Direct experience in semiconductor foundry, managing competitive capacity, tool and space utilization for a minimum of 10+ years
