Our Advance Services Business is seeking a Senior Operations Engineer to join the Network Operations Technology Management Team.

This team is responsible for the infrastructure support across the breadth Lumen’s Managed Services Products.

You will have specific dedicated responsbilities to designated client’s highly secured service.

This is a Work From Home position though you must reside in the greater Washington DC or Denver CO metro areas. NOTE: Must hold an ACTIVE CompTIA Security+ certificationMust hold an ACTIVE DoD Top Secret Clearance AND meet the requirements for DoD Directive 8140 (DoD 8570.1-M)Work from Home though must reside in the Herndon VA area or Denver COThe Main ResponsibilitiesProvide data support for the Lumen Managed Services contracts.

Includes data design, installation and maintenance for new and current installations.Provide primary engineering design and configuration for Linux systems and applications in line with Managed Services customer goals and requirementsEvaluate new technical requirements for compatibility with deployed system designEvaluate new products for compatibility and applicability to the Managed Services solutionsMaintain current knowledge base regarding complex routing, switchingMonitor and analyze performance across customer networks and underlying tools deployments as required for Managed Services.Provide high-level technical & engineering support for Linux systems and network performance management configurations, troubleshooting, and service restoration along with an understanding of switching, routing as it would affect operations.Troubleshoot and resolve complex issuesProvide high-level off-hours support on a rotating basis with other engineersDevelop and oversee technical methods, procedures, and assist with complex technical solution designs.

Develop & document process flows.Identify capacity and performance issues for network traffic to ensure continued, uninterrupted operation of systems.Maintain network monitoring applications, equipment and utilities as needed.Conduct testing of disaster recovery plans as it pertains to network performance management equipment to detect faults, and minimize malfunctions.Create and maintain network documentation and reports as requiredAct as liaison between Managed Services and other vendors (e.g.

SevOne, Juniper, etc) on high-level support issues.Provide direct interface with other Lumen departments in support of the Managed Services.What We Look For in a CandidateRequiredMust hold an ACTIVE CompTIA Security+ certificationMust hold an ACTIVE DoD Top Secret Clearance AND meet the requirements for DoD Directive 8140 (DoD 8570.1-M)MinimumBachelor’s degree plus minimum 5 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.Linux Server or SevOne Subject Matter ExpertDirect customer interaction communication skillsProficient PC skills in office applications and network connectivity configurationProficient presentation skills for presentations to technical and non-technical audiences; must be able to translate technical terms and concepts to non-technical entities.Must be available 24/7 for rotating on-call, outages and maintenance window work.Strong communication (oral and written), customer service, organizational and multi-tasking skills5 years current hands on experience with the following:Linux management and configurationPerfromance Managerment (SevOne, NetCool, or similar) and configurationIsolation of telecom and/or network outage causes and service restorationsPreferred Qualifications:Experience or certification in Juniper device mgmtProven analytical and problem-solving abilitiesHighly self-motivated and directed.Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environmentWhat to Expect NextBased on your job application information you may be given the opportunity to complete a video interview immediately after applying.
