Senior Market Risk Analyst (4354)

This is a Contract position in Anchorage, AK posted December 29, 2021.

Under the supervision of the ENGIE Energy Marketing N.A.

(EEMNA) Market Risk Manager, the Senior Market Risk Analyst will prepare and communicate the EEMNA’s Renewable, Generation, and Retail commodity position, P, and the risk metrics.

In this role, you will review and verify the commodity contract valuation/risk analytics models used and evaluate the official P of the transactions while preparing the unique risk package for the Renewable, Generation, and Retail business unit.

This position is located in Houston, Texas ns reports to the Market Risk Manager.

What you’ll do: Advise market risk management on risk quantification and mitigation utilizing various tools and resources, pricing of complex transactions with embedded options, and hedging strategies to assure appropriate risk-adjusted gross margin Help to implement the Risk Mandate (i.e., risk limits), position and P (also P attributes) reporting, and other risk metrics such as Greeks (i.e., Delta/Vega), VaR, sensitivity/stress test analysis, for the Renewable, Generation, and Retail business unit.

Advise and verify the modeling of specific complex non-standard transactions, including (but not limited to) power options, renewable (wind/solar) contracts, battery, etc.

Closely work with I.T.

to improve the extensive data handling/risk calculations using the tools such as MATLAB or similar risk analytic/statistics tools for renewable business.

Model and monitor wind and solar assets in the ETRM system and develop specific PowerBI reports to follow the associated risks Work with the EEMNA Front Office (Traders and Asset Managers) on the hedging/trading strategies, risk monitoring, and risk reporting of Renewable Assets.

Review and verify the analytic tools EEMNA front office/market risk use (i.e., FIS options pricing models, FIS/FEA storage valuation models, MathWorks MATLAB, internal/external price/production shaping models, Oracle Crystal Ball, etc.) Develop and verify valuation models for various energy (i.e., power) contracts such as power tolling, power renewable (wind, solar, hydro, biomass, etc.), battery, etc.

Develop and build new risk calculations and report to capture intermittency and shape Engie’s renewable portfolio risk Support the different business units to prepare their respective risk committee package (Renewable, Generation, and Retail) Support the internal and external audits related to the risk metrics and contract valuations specific to Renewable (VPPA) What you bring: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another analytical discipline: Math/Physics/Economics/Finance (MS/ME or MBA in Economics/Finance and/or CFA/CAIA/FRM preferred) Previous use of ETRM (i.e., Aligne, Endur, or Allegro) Excellent use of Excel/Word/PowerPoint Understanding of various commodity types and their settlement procedures A minimum of five years experience in energy risk assessment & analysis Energy Risk Monitoring & Reporting Excellent understanding of energy Risk Drivers & Metrics such as VaR/Greeks; (Monte-Carlo, parametric, historical, etc.) Knowledge of Financial Engineering/Derivatives, Probability/Statistics (i.e., MATLAB, Crystal Ball), Operational Research/Optimization/Dynamic Programming Working knowledge of Monte-Carlo simulations and volatility/correlation estimations, Strong handling of extensive data/database and (5) Working knowledge on SQL, SAS, VBA, C , etc.

Ability to act as a team member with all employees of EEMNA staff Compliance with all EEMNA policies and procedures Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Additional Information/Conditions: This role will be eligible for a hybrid schedule of both work-from-home and in-office days.
