Senior IP Docketing Specialist

Performs research and stays abreast of U.S. and Foreign intellectual property procedures and regulations to effectively communicate and clarify patent rules, trends, developments and legislative rulings impacting patent administration to client, matter, and docketing teams.Compiles information to develop, implement, communicate and update IP-related firm established procedures, processes and practices as well as client-specific procedures and guidelines to increase efficiencies and enhance client service.Maintains the integrity and accuracy of the docketing database(s) by managing all aspects of daily docketing including: setting performance expectations and measurements for the docketing team; ensuring policies and procedures are being followed by the docketing team in accordance with established Firm guidelines; creating and maintaining country and client “actions”; creating new database records, preparing reports, and developing and implementing client/matter-specific docketing and reporting processes & procedures with internal team.Develops training courses for new and existing docketing staff to ensure that the docketing staff are updated on new rules and/or requirements to enable them to complete their day-to-day responsibilities accurately and timely.Provides key support in the training, work assignment, and quality control monitoring of Intellectual Property Docketing Specialists.Collaborates with other departments to develop and coordinate the work flow for processing files of client portfolios transferred into or outside the firm. Facilitates transfer, conversion and/or merge processes when transitioning client portfolios into the intellectual property docketing database.Maintains a thorough working knowledge of docketing software to create specialized reports for attorneys and clients, as needed.In conjunction with Practice Group leaders, makes recommendations relating to the intellectual property docketing database and its functions; acts as primary point of contact with intellectual property software vendors; and partners with firm and/or client IT departments to resolve issues that arise with respect to intellectual property docketing.Works independently on special projects, as needed.Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university and/or paralegal certificate/degree and five to seven years of patent and trademark docketing experience required; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.Other Skills:Comprehensive understanding of the US and Foreign patent & trademark lifecycles, including deadlines, patent prosecution rules, and post-grant procedures.Meticulous attention to detail and ability to be a proactive, self-starter who unders
