Work under the general direction of the Continuous Improvement Manager.
This position is responsible for supporting Industrial Engineering (IE) and Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives for Kaman Precision Products.
The main responsibilities of this job include but are not limited to:
Perform Time Studies and report results and recommendations and participate on improvement recommendations as assigned.
Establish Time standards to be utilized in company IIS/CAPP system to support labor standards.
Understand MRP and related business systems concepts and be able to pull relevant reports.
Utilize Lean and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
Implement continuous improvement methods but not limited to: DMAIC, Kaizen, SMED, Mistake proofing, Kaizen Newspaper, 5S, Visual Factory.
Support and/or consult with functional staff members performing assessments on proposed processes.
Assist with/conduct employee training on topics addressing performance improvement.
Identify problem areas and issues.
Recommend corrective action and provide resolution
Analyze scope of work and individual cost elements.
Maintain understanding of company’s cost accounting system in order to estimate and develop production hours, and costs associated with resources, tooling, quality, tests, packaging, and facilities.
Assist production by providing metrics for day-to-day visibility including hours per program, hours per work cell, etc.
Assist with preparing capital equipment justification and process capital equipment requests (CER).
Interact and coordinate effectively with all levels of functional groups within the company as well as external customers.
Qualifications include b road knowledge of Industrial Engineering.
Strong knowledge of all Microsoft Office tools with emphasis on excel and presentation application software as well as familiarity with MRP type systems.
Must be fluent in continuous improvement techniques as they relate to Industrial Engineering and possess fluent oral and written communication skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field with of 10 years of experience in an aerospace or high technology manufacturing environment with at least 5-7 years of continuous improvement background/exposure including facilitation skills to lead groups or teams.
