Senior Data Analyst, Management Data Analysis

National Grid is hiring a Senior Data Analyst, Management Data Analysis for our Data Analytics and Engineering Controls department in Melville, NY.

Job Purpose

To support the creation of business strategy forecast using data and analytics. This role will define and implement business analytics that will deliver optimal performance to National Grid, and put them into action.

Key Accountabilities

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Work closely with business and IS counterparts to develop technology solutions to system related issues and change requests 
  • Leads development projects with minimal direction 
  • Oversees and directs contractor resources and deliverables 
  • Seek and promote industry ‘best practices’ to achieve business objectives 
  • Share information and transfer knowledge to others by providing informal advice and training 
  • Provide GIS technical and business process support for the US gas business
     

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical subject such as engineering, GIS or computer science required 
  • Master’s degree in IS, GIS, Engineering, Business or another technical field preferred
  • 5+ years professional experience in automated reporting, dashboards, GIS, and coding required
  • 1+ year of professional experience with ESRI/ArcGIS Pro, PL/SQL Developer, Power BI, Alteryx, Power Automate, MS Cloud Platform preferred
  • 1+ year of professional experience with Python, Arcpy, PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, XML, SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Linux Script preferred
  • Proficiency with computer applications including demonstrated skills with geospatial data analysis, relational databases, spreadsheets, query tools and other general applications required
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Ability to travel throughout the National Grid service territory as needed
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment 
  • Demonstrated exceptional customer service and communication skills (verbal and written) preferred
  • Demonstrated exceptional analytical skills, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities preferred
  • Highly motivated with ability to take an assignment and progress independently preferred 
  • Excellent project management skills inclusive of understanding business operations, process decomposition, scoping, planning, analytical, needs requirement, prioritization, organization, initiative & problem-solving skills preferred
