Provides customer service and ensures orderly parking.
Responds to security needs of hospital personnel quickly and effectively.Duties and Responsibilities:Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:1.
Patrols Medical Center complex, including all buildings and grounds, to provide a visible deterrence in preventing criminal and prohibited activity (fire, accidents).
Ensures safety and unauthorized entry, including inspecting doors, windows and locks to determine level of security.a.
At the beginning of an assigned shift the Security Officer will be in uniform and prepared for duty.b.
Each officer will be responsible for obtaining an update on activities of importance to department operations.
This includes discussions with someone from the previous shift, and reading and signing the brief, operations and daily activities logs.c.
Officer will sign on with the Dispatcher.d.
Officers will report to the assigned area to relieve the previous shift at that location (i.e.
Parking Lot, Emergency Department, Front Desk, etc.).2.
Responds quickly and effectively to all calls for servicea.
Responds within a Seven Minute Window.b.
Prioritizes calls.c.
Reports Service Call Failure to Supervisor and/or Director3.
Ensures only authorized personnel are admitted onto hospital premises.a.
Work with CMMC service entities during VIP visits to; ensure parking accommodations, to minimize interruptions, and will adjust patrols of areas involved as directed.b.
Direct the handling/processing of Court documents, by Law Enforcement/Court Officials.c.
Work with Law Enforcement officials, acting in an official capacity, while maintaining confidentiality.
Security will review emergency codes with Law Enforcement Officers that are on property for thirty (30) minutes or longer.d.
Ensure all weapons brought in to the facility, by those not authorized in their official capacity, are removed from the facility.e.
Issue and enforce Criminal Trespass Warnings.4.
Assures orderly, safe, and efficient access and parking for patients, visitors and employees as needed/upon request.a.
Escorts visitors, patients and personnel to and from parking areas.b.
Officers assigned to outside areas will patrol all parking locations and will report, on the proper written violation form, for non-compliance with hospital standing orders regarding parking.c.
Reports all safety concerns on the property outside including weather conditions that might impact parking or safe travel.d.
Provides standbys in parking lots as directed.5.
Assists motorists who become stranded on hospital property.a.
Provides assistance with jump start of vehicles with battery booster pack6.
Performs Dispatcher responsibilities.a.
Maintains all logs at the Information/Dispatch desk to include: Deceased Log, Security Log, etc.b.
Performs After Hours Visitor Sign-ins at the Emergency Department Security Deskc.
Performs Emergency Lock-Downs of CMMC, Bridgton and Rumford hopsitals via the CCURE monitoring program.7.
Responds in a timely manner and reports all incidents occurring on hospital property and submits an incident report after the investigation to the director by end of shift.a.
Serves as Security Code Responders (ie., Code Gray, Code Pink, etc.)b.
Serves as Campus Security Authority for the MCHP by responding to, and reporting all, Clery Act crimes8.
Writes accurate, clear and legible incident/Midas reports and documents investigative steps and results.9.
Responds to all emergency/alarm(s) calls for assistance, with a minimum of 2 Officers, to control behavioral issues, disorderly conduct or combative patients.a.
Responds to all trauma alert patients arriving in the Emergency Departmentb.
Utilizes verbal de-escalation and crisis intervention techniquesc.
Utilizes Care & Restraint Techniquesd.
Utilizes Active Shooter response techniquese.
Utilizes safe handcuffing techniques in extreme life threatening situations (only)10.
Conducts searches, at the request of staff, when reasonable suspicion has been established, to provide a safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees.a.
Assists with inspection of incoming/outgoing parcelsb.
Utilizes Garrett Search Wand and search gloves as needed.11.
Performs Services to Departments/Practices, and patients to ensure safe handling of monies.a.
Performs pick up of bank bags from departments & practices and deposits the money at the bank as requested/scheduled.b.
Collects patient valuables, as requested, and places them in the Security Safe.12.
Assists with patient lifting/moving as requested, and at the direction of clinical staff.a.
Responds to requests for in-patient lifting assistance in a timely manner.b.
Assists with loading and off loading of patients utilizing Lifeflight of Maine Services.c.
Uses appropriate body mechanics and lifting techniques and will not attempt any patient lift unless all safety precautions (including having adequate help) are in place.13.
Escorts customers and employee as needed and requested.14.
Operates Security Department vehicles and bicycle in a safe and efficient manner at all times.a.
Must meet CMHC driving record criteria.b.
Must notify Director of any moving violations and/or traffic accidents in a timely manner.15.
Monitors the hospital using electronic security equipment (closed-circuit television, alarms, HUGS infant security system, etc.).a.
Serves as Infant/Child abduction responder.b.
Utilizes training in Security equipment (Access Control, CCTV, etc.)16.
Complies with and Enforces all organizational policies and procedures as assigned by Administration and the Security Director.a.
Reports all safety and fire hazards observed on routine patrols and inspections to appropriate personnel.b.
Minimum of 1 Safety Violation/Hazard reported per month.c.
Completes Maintenance Work Order Requests via the portal.d.
Reference Joint Commission /CMMC Safety policies when possiblee.
Enforces proper wearing of Identification badges17.
Processing of Deceased Patientsa.
Dispatcher gathers all necessary information prior to pick up of deceased patient.b.
Officer responds as requested for deceased removal and release in a timely manner.c.
Officer works with Nursing Supervisor, Lab and Outside Agencies to ensure all procedures occur prior to release.18.
Participates in performance improvement activities as requested (ie., Standard Work, Security tasks, etc.)19.
Performs switchboard responsibilities as directed:a.
Operates an electronic switchboard as needed, to route incoming calls and to place outgoing calls.b.
Provides census information to internal and external inquirers.c.
Demonstrates the ability to access language services upon request, including TTY services.d.
Knowledgeable of emergency codes to be used over the PA system, pager system and can send computer messages.e.
Provides hospital information and directions to patients/visitors as needed.f.
Demonstrates the ability to access a list of all facility staff on-call, including home phone numbers and pager numbers.20.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
He/she shall be able to identify each patient’s age-specific needs and promote a secure environment needed by the patient group.21.
