Screen Room Operator

Openings on 1st shift and 2nd shift

Prepares screens to be used in the printing process. Makes new screens to be used in the printing process by stretching and gluing mesh onto aluminum frames, following procedures for using the correct screen meshes and frame sizes. Also requires mechanical ability and physical dexterity to operate screen room equipment and to stretch and glue mesh to screen frames.  Must be a reliable, conscientious team player with excellent customer focus and sense of urgency. During our busy periods, overtime is frequently required. Accuracy in reading and basic math skills to understand manufacturing orders, expose ads and make screens to meet order criteria required. 

Primary Job Responsibilities: 

1.             Make and reclaim screens as directed by scheduling and order process

2.             Makes new screens to be used in the printing process by stretching and gluing mesh onto aluminum frames, following procedures for using the correct screen meshes and frame sizes.

3.             Coats screens with emulsion.

4.             Correctly positions film onto screens as indicated by the manufacturing order and transfers the image onto the screens through the accurate use of the exposure unit.

5.             Using a pressure sprayer, rinses excess emulsion from exposed screens and places them on drying rack.

6.             Assesses exposed screens for quality and does any needed touch-up to make them production-ready.

7.             Places completed screens onto carts with manufacturing orders and transports to the production floor.

8.             Uses DCT to accurately report process completion for each manufacturing order.

9.             Maintains equipment and does preventative maintenance in order to keep equipment in good working condition.

10.          Maintains effective working relationships with other associates.

11.          Actively participates in and supports teamwork and continuous process improvement.

12.          Demonstrates flexibility and commitment through cross training and helping other departments consistent with business needs.

13.          Performs duties safely and in accordance with company safety policies.

14.          Reclaims screens for reuse by applying chemicals, using power sprayer and automated and manual cleaning equipment.

15.          Lifts, loads and unloads aluminum frames into and from racks and machines for ink removal, emulsion removal and power washing.

16.          Maintains the proper level of chemicals in the equipment.

17.          Uses chemicals to clean screens, ensuring that such chemicals are used with care and properly replenished upon completion.

18.          Performs other duties as assigned or requested by supervisor/management.
