The Analyst, Portfolio Management Oversight reviews, analyzes, evaluates or renders environmentally-focused and risk-based processing and reporting to reduce environmentally-related operating losses and maintain maximum protection of the organization’s assets and services.
S/he will supporting the second line of defense and recommends opportunities and proposes resolutions for improved efficiency, effectiveness, and risk minimization relative to environmental concerns associated with real estate.Conducts environmental risk evaluations and assists with policy/procedure development in an effort to limit Bank environmental liabilities associated with real estate collateralized and other loan transactions.Maintains current working knowledge of emerging federal, state, and municipal environmental issues and their impact on potential environmental liabilities associated with loan transactions.Performs special projects as requested by senior management.Manages projects to ensure timely completion of review memoranda.Assists in development of the banks environmental consultant vendor listing.Reviews environmental site assessment reports to evaluate environmental liabilities and associated adverse financial impacts on collateral value.Adjusts risk management policies, systems, and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness within the department.Evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of existing controls and provides recommendations on opportunities for improvement.Informs employees on environmental risk policies and guidelines to build a risk aware culture and practice across the organization.Interprets and applies procedures, ensures analysis is documented and that records are maintained.Operates as a point of contact for the department by responding to internal inquiries regarding environmental policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and project status updates.Prepares appropriate environmental review memorandum summarizing liabilities and recommending follow-up evaluationsProvides procedural guidance and support to junior analysts in the various functions of the department, and in the methods of tools of analysisResearches a wide variety of topics and issues including emerging environmental risks and trends and risk management best practices; summarizes and communicates findings with team.Reviews identified risks and liabilities; informs and recommends resolutions with business lines to mitigate risk potentialShares insight to causes of risk indicators and proposes recommendations to resolve or mitigate identified risks with team.Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.At Santander, we value and respect differences in our workforce and strive to increase the diversity of our teams.
