The Risk Mitigation Specialist manages the optimizations and enhancements of HHC’s Risk Management Event Reporting Application.

This role will primarily support the needs of platform users in the use of the event reporting system, including education and development/maintenance of resource materials and enhancements of Risk Management’s Event Reporting Program.

The specialist oversees the identification and prioritization of event reporting projects/programs for Hartford Healthcare and analyzes event data at system levels to assist with identifying risks and risk mitigation opportunities for at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities include but, are not limited to the following:

  • Supports the oversight, education, and management of Hartford HealthCare’s safety event reporting system.
  • Provides education, site leader support and feedback to ensure satisfactory user experience and facilitate resolution of end user HHC safety reporting system issues.
  • Facilitates/assists with safety reporting system training, events and activities.
  • Collaborates with leadership and provides project management support with implementation of the safety event reporting system for identified HHC entities.
  • Ensures comprehensive and accurate clinical data analysis and interpretation to support senior level decision-making regarding clinical risks and mitigation opportunities, including risk assessment activities.
  • In collaboration with Claims Management, Quality Analytics, Patient/Customer Experience, and other stakeholders creates system reports to assist in identifying organizational risk priorities and sharing best practices.
  • Provides system-level reports, as needed, ensuring quality and integrity of data.
  • Serves as a consultant in the evaluation and analysis of current practice operations and safety processes, and assists in identifying innovative solutions to reduce gaps and minimize waste in the process.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or bachelor degree in closely related clinical field required

Experience

  • Five (5) years of recent healthcare experience required
  • Demonstrated experience with healthcare data analytics, project management and meaningful data presentation
  • Demonstrated service excellence and customer service orientation

Licensure, Certification, Registration:

  • Current licensure in clinical field in the State of Connecticut

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:

  • Exceptional facilitation skills and ability to perform with HHC business units to improve processes and reduce organizational risk within a complex organization
  • Ability to recognize and analyze clinical components/opportunities which drive clinical risk management events
  • Demonstrated ability to function independently and efficiently in managing multiple project requests.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical process control tools.
  • Prior experience in healthcare project management and client serving roles.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams to ensure data analytics, reports and dashboards are meaningful, useful, knowledge-generating and actionable to meet the needs of all HHC entities.
  • Strong computer skills with microcomputer software for data management and graphics including (MS Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) .
