We are currently seeking Residential Habilitation Counselors (RHC) to work one on one with people in their private homes and communities: Work within AHRC New York City’s Home Care Department Positions Available in all 5 boroughs: Queens, Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Staten Island Per-Diem schedules available ranging from 4-30hrs per week (based on employee’s availability) Schedules include working weekends where applicable, weekend only schedules available Bilingual is a plus (i.e.
Spanish, Russian, Creole, Mandarin) Typical 3-8 hr.
weekday shifts range between the hours of 2pm-10pm, weekend shifts range between 8am-10pm Per-Diem shifts offer great flexibility for students, those seeking a second job, and those that need flexibility due to other obligations.
Are you a RHC candidate?
We are seeking patient, understanding, and team oriented people to support people with I/DD in community participation, advocacy and building meaningful relationships.
Must be willing to teach, provide counseling, be capable of problem solving, and willing to assist or complete Activities of Daily Living (i.e.
preparing meals, cleaning, attending to hygiene needs).
Must provide the oversight of all safety and health considerations for the person supported while promoting skill development and exploring the person’s interest and hobbies.
Must be willing to work with a person supported on a one to one basis, or work with people supported in a group setting across a variety of environments.
Qualifications: Professionalism; integrity; excellent communication skills; patience; sensitivity and commitment to working with the I/DD population.
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent, or completion of certification in the following areas: HHA, CNA, PCA Experience with the I/DD population sought after, but not required.
AHRC NYC provides additional trainings for those starting or changing career paths.
Willingness to support people’s preference for community, activities, work, leisure activities, the exercise of their rights, etc.
