Reporting Engineer

We accomplish this by empowering the greatest learning resource that students have at school: educators The Data Services team is looking for a Reporting Engineer who is passionate about education, empowering educators, and technology at Alma.

The position is an entry level position on one of our engineering teams.

It is a great way to get exposure to the educational software industry and offers a path to grow within Alma.

A reporting engineer is responsible for managing all tickets associated with our Reporting project.

That mainly consists of utilizing PHP to build data extracts in a variety of formats (CSV, Excel, XML, JSON) gathering data through the use of internal APIs, Libraries, and custom MongoDB queries in addition to doing complex transforms and calculations for various state reporting requirements , as well as expanding our reporting capabilities.

Key Responsibilities Collaborate with the team to implement new features for our reporting application from inception to delivery.

Build data extracts according to state specifications in collaboration with our analyst and product teams.

Provide estimations for potential projects and efforts.

Provide Peer Review of other’s scripts and work to ensure there are no errors or problems with others’ code.

Accurately track issues and resolutions using internal tools.

Attend team standup meetings every day to provide updates on the progress of one’s own work and ask any questions that are blocking their work.

Perform regular quality assurance/quality control checks on assigned client campaigns to ensure accuracy Support the development of measurement strategies, learning agendas, and roadmaps with input from senior team members and internal stakeholders Requirements/Competencies Comprehensive PHP and MongoDB skills Javascript knowledge preferred Ability to articulate technical issues to peers as well as non-technical personnel Familiarity with using command-line consoles and working with Virtual Machines.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Experience with Ed-Fi Data Standard is a plus.
