Remote Backend Engineer (Node.JS)

Key Outcomes & Responsibilities Ensure extremely reliable infrastructure that never fails, with smooth and efficient devops Drastically improves the performance of our distributed data infrastructure Architects creative solutions for monitoring and metrics on a distributed network Contributes ideas, IP and thought leadership about open network design to 3Box and related developer communities A successful candidate will in 6 months take on a leading role in defining and deploying the infrastructure needed to support the launch and scaling of the Ceramic Netowork. This includes spinning up nodes and testing the CeramicCore software, making a plan for how to roll out a public Ceramic Gateway and a flexible system for spinning nodes for customers that require their own instances, as well as capturing the relevant metrics from our infrastructure. In addition to this main project the candidate will also have Built automated load testing tools for the most critical parts of our current infrastructure that allows us to make updates and changes with confidence Contributes to ceramic core development by insights from simulations, deployments, and code Solidified our alert system so that we have granular insight into changes within our systems Streamlined our metrics based on business needs (ceramic / 3Box tradeoff) You make a great candidate if Have been responsible for large scale infrasturcture deployments Have shipped high quality javascript products that is used at scale Demonstrate an aptitude for understanding and designing distributed systems Extremely good at quickly understanding new problem areas, weighing tradeoffs, and recommending a path forward Ships quality code fast Frequently experiment with new technologies and think about better ways to build things
