December 2020SUPERVISES:There are no direct reports with this position.POSITION SUMMARY:Under limited supervision, the Benefit Planner (CWIC) provides individual counseling to beneficiaries seeking employment and intensive follow-up services to ensure that they are using the work incentives appropriately. Employees in this job class provide evaluation of current benefits, assists applicants with work incentives planning and assistance to SSDI/CDB/DWB and SSI beneficiaries; collaborate with SSA personnel and provides outreach activities that promote effective use of available work incentives and community referrals to encourage successful transitions to employment. This job class requires knowledge of the affect’s disabilities and/or social and economic disadvantages could potentially have on employment, ability to apply complex federal and state regulations applicable to Social Security Disability, SSI, Medicare, and Medical.TYPICAL DUTIES:1. * Provide accurate information about SSDI and SSI work incentives including Ticket to Work initiative to relevant audience.2. * Develop accurate and personalized benefits analysis plans demonstrating appropriate work incentives and application of work incentive strategies that promotes employment opportunities. 3. * Provide ongoing, comprehensive work incentives monitoring and management assistance to SSDI and SSI beneficiaries.4. * Maintain ongoing close contact with the SSA personnel including PASS Cadres, Claims Representatives, Work Incentives Liaisons (WILs), and Area Work Incentive Coordinators (AWICs).5. * Provide outreach activities and referrals to beneficiaries, family members, community partners and providers.6. * Conduct group presentations regarding Social Security work incentives, job readiness and other employment related topics.7. * Develop work plans that promote employment, utilization of appropriate work incentives and provide linkages to employment linkages to employment programs and services.8. * Maintain and track client records and status regarding the number of clients served.9. * Submit regular status reports to Program Manager to include clients served, service delivered and outreach activities with a status toward objectives.10. * Maintain regular contact to beneficiaries to ensure smooth transition of employment and effective and timely use of work incentives.11. * Update work plans and benefits summary and analysis conduct regular reviews of client outcomes and modify plans as needed.12. Keep rosters of outreach activities, group presentations and workshops.13. Document use of DOR, career center, and use of referrals.14. Participate in staff meetings, staff development, trainings, and community outreach activities.15. Submit timely and accurate reports.16. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.* Denotes Essential Job FunctionMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:* Two or more years of experience working with persons with disabilities preferably with organizations providing employment services;* Previously demonstrated experience working in the field of employment services, working with persons with significant barriers or working with persons from diverse backgrounds preferred;* Clear understanding and judgment with regard to protecting strictly confidential information;* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to make presentations and respond to inquiries by management, team, vendors and/or customers;* Human relation skills to build effective relationships with team and internal customers;* Intermediate to advanced computer literacy including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software;* Knowledge of business English including vocabulary, spelling, and correct grammatical usage and punctuation;* Mathematical skills to include the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations;* Ability to establish priorities and solve a wide range of business problems;* Demonstrated customer service, common sense, problem solving and analytical skills;* Flexibility to respond to changing work priorities and handle numerous projects at the same time.EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:AssociatesCERTIFICATES OR LICENSES REQUIRED:The following licenses or certificates may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements:Valid Driver’s LicensePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods with or without assistance:* Use a computer and computer software* Required to conduct online researchWORK ENVIRONMENT:Occasional travel is required.Work performed may be in a work office or public environment with low to moderate noise.DISCLAIMER:The above information on this description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
