The Process Engineer II’s primary responsibility is to evaluate, troubleshoot, and conduct process improvement activities.
Responsible for understanding and solving technical challenges with proprietary technology, production equipment, and the cGMP quality management system.
This position will provide process engineering support to other functions including Innovations, Quality, and Engineering teams.Location:Charlotte, NC areaDuties and Responsibilities:Thinks of continuous improvement initiatives and cost reduction projects and discusses them with the team.Seeks out mentorship to grow in experience.
When possible, mentor peers in open, flexible, & empathetic manner.Assist engineering/manufacturing to service and source equipment required for continuous improvement projects.
Create or revise P& IDs and equipment specs as required.Review and reduce process variations and improve yields, cycle times, and changeovers.
Escalates day to day issues & trends to their respective teams.
Commits a realistic amount of work according to urgency & importance.General understanding of business expectations of the product area of focus.
Understands how it fits in overall strategy & makes occasional suggestions.Sufficiently understands the product and process requirements to provide competent technical support with scale ups, validations & product transfer.When taking action, weighs cost and value in order to take the most economic action with help from more senior engineers.
Sometimes uses this type of thinking to make suggestions to teammates.Qualifications and Supervisory Responsibility:BS in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering3 years of engineering experience in pharmaceuticals, food processing, or consumer packaged goods.Hands on experience** with pumps, mixers, reactors (cookers), and/or process instrumentation.Knowledge & experience with cGMP, FDA, EPA and OSHA rules and regulations
