Because doing so can fuel the very innovation we are pursuing.As a Senior or Principal Dry Etch Equipment Development Engineer, you are an integral member of the Technology Development Engineering team at Micron driving our development of tomorrow’s memory and storage technology.**The primary focus of this role is to develop cutting edge semiconductor processing hardware – both internally with process engineering and externally with vendors – to enable novel process technology.**Success is derived through partnership with the process development team and effective project management of vendor resources to achieve process technology and efficiency benchmarks.
Equipment Development Engineers use creative experimental techniques and have access to a full suite of semiconductor analytics lab equipment and on-board plasma diagnostics to solve outstanding technical challenges.**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:****R Equipment Development**+ Develop and define hardware requirements enabling new processing technology+ Provide hardware technical support to the process development staff+ Execute the characterization program of new tools and identify and close any hardware and procedural gaps+ Execute against project goals
– close hardware gaps before transfer to internal customers.+ Rapidly learn and understand the interactions between R/Manufacturing/Procurement+ Drive hardware technology roadmaps along with the Process areas+ Act as a world-wide Dry Etch technical authority+ Manage installation and upgrades of tools ensuring quality of work, cost control and alignment to project schedule.+ Partner with process engineering to define hardware roadmap+ Partner with tool vendors developing training program for next generation equipment+ Mentor equipment technicians and engineers+ Establish and build relationships with peers building a culture of alignment on Best Known Methods for equipment maintenance and matching procedures.+ Always execute with Safety first behaviors.**Successful candidates for this position will have:**+ Demonstrable track record of exceptional ability, skill and accomplishments in Dry Etch+ Strong interpersonal skills with customers, stakeholders, and managers+ Ability to work independently, with minimal direction / supervision and always focusing on timely completion of project deliverables+ Model-based problem-solving skills+ Ability to conceive and implement viable, innovative solutions either independently, or partnering with vendors+ Strong analytical skills
– ability to identify embedded correlations+ An electromechanical or hardware derived work history/education+ Ability to generate data-based problem statements and success criteria+ Strong teamwork skills
– ability to work in cross-disciplinary teams facing cross-organizational logistical challenges+ Effective project management skills achieving goals and timelines+ Ability to multi-task and manage numerous projects simultaneously+ Self-driven to respond to issues 24X7 to ensure projects are moving forward+ Strong digital literacy, or minimally the ability to learn quickly new programs like JMP and other data analysis programs**Education**+ B.S.
in Engineering or Science discipline (Physics, Electrical Engineering) + 7 to 10 years of direct experience in Dry Etch+ M.S./Ph.D.
