For more information about Orascoptic, visit www.orascoptic.com**Job Description:**The **R&D Project Engineer II** is responsible for the definition, planning, coordination, and execution of assigned projects which may include mechanical and electromechanical new product development, sustaining engineering, or process improvement projects.
He/she ensures project budget, project schedule, product cost, and product reliability targets are accurately forecasted and executed to meet the requirements of the Company.This individual will maintain regular communication with the project team, design partners, and management.
They will have the opportunity to learn the innerworkings of the R&D department and the broader Orascoptic business.They will also support product development in the areas of requirements specification, mechanical design and drafting, design reviews, FMEA, prototyping, design verification and validation, and manufacturing process and fixture design.**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**+ Evaluates and defines mechanical and electromechanical parts and systems by applying principles of mechanics, materials, and thermodynamics.+ Serves as mechanical engineering lead, performing analysis, design, drafting, and prototyping as needed; reviewing designs and deliverables from design partners.+ Assures product quality by designing testing methods; testing prototypes; confirming manufacturing and assembly processes.+ Determines product/project specifications by studying product design, marketing/customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.+ Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project tasks.+ Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and tasks; assigning personnel to phases and tasks; reviewing bids from design partners.+ Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress and risks; coordinating activities; resolving problems.+ Controls project costs by approving expenditures; administering purchase requests.+ Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.+ Support identification and qualification of design partners and suppliers+ Responsible for maintaining an emphasis on continuous improvement+ Support Envista Business System and FDA/ISO compliance by adhering to all procedures and work instructions**Job Requirements:****Minimum requirements:**+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field or 7+ years of progressive experience in Mechanical Engineering and Product Development+ 1-3 years of Project Management experience+ Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software; must have solid design skills+ Experience with MS Project or similar; project estimation and scheduling skills are a must**Preferred requirements:**+ Ability to work independently and allocate time among several tasks+ Strong communication and writing skills.+ Knowledge of FDA/ISO/GMP requirements is a plus+ Ability to work cross functionally across multiple departments (Quality, Regulatory, Operations, Marketing, Product Management, Materials, Procurement, etc.)+ Experience managing product development through partnering and outsourcing#LI-RJ1IND123**Operating Company:**OrascopticEnvista and all Envista Companies are equal opportunity employers that evaluate qualified applicants without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, marital status, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or other characteristics protected by law.
