This is a Full-time position in Syracuse, NY posted February 23, 2022.

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is the primary quality interface between Raytheon’s RMD organization and the external supply base.

The SQE provides both communication of requirements and performance feedback to the supplier as well as being a conduit for Quality information back to internal functions within RMD.

The SQE’s role includes execution of Supplier Assessments, First Article Inspection validation, Source Inspection, problem resolution, meeting facilitation and continuous improvement activities.

In addition, the SQE is a key player in the management of Supplier performance and development.

The SQE represents RMD professionally and supports Raytheon Technologies Vision, Values, Strategy and Goals in the supply base.

This role is a Principal Supplier Quality Engineer based on the candidate’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and educational requirements of this position.

Location Information: This position covers an assignment as a Field Supplier Quality Engineer in Buffalo, New York.

Responsibilities to Anticipate: Interpreting purchase order quality notes and quality requirements to ensure subcontractor/supplier understandingEnsuring flow down of Product requirements both internally and to sub-tier suppliers and ensuring compliance with quality requirementsAssessing subcontractor/supplier quality capabilities throughout the program life cycle to achieve full program objectivesIdentifying supplier risk and systemic performance issues ensuring root-cause analysis and corrective solutions are identified and implemented with closure plansDriving continuous product / process improvements using statistical / analytical improvement tools such as Six Sigma and lean methodologiesWorking with other Quality functions and Cross Business Teams (CBTs), to affect rapid closure of issues utilizing analytical capabilities and communications skillsEnsuring Subcontract Data Requirements List deliverables are metSupports the First Article Verification and Source Inspection Qualifications You Must Have:5 years experience in Quality Engineering and 3 years of overall experience in ManufacturingBachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM).Practical knowledge of Aerospace or commercial equivalent Preventative tools SPC, FMEA, QFD, PPAP, APQP etc.Practical knowledge of Root Cause Corrective Action processesGeneral understanding of commercial and aerospace / defense regulations and standards AS9100, AS9102, ISO-9000, AS9145Knowledge in hardware inspection techniques Qualifications We Value:Six Sigma, Lean and / or American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certification (CQE, CQM/OE, CSQE, CQA, CRE, etc.)MS Engineering / Technical or MBAProven successes in building and maintaining relationships with multiple suppliers / customersExperience in DoD product and process oversight including requirements, build, integration, test and deliveryExperience working remotelyGeneral Statistical Process Control knowledge, including implementationGeneral knowledge of aerospace / defense products and systems technologiesGeneral knowledge of industry technical standards (such as ANSI, CMMI, ASTM, etc.)Strong technical engineer with excellent communication skills that exhibits presence and influence and self-managed technical contributor Clearance Information:This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance.

An active, in scope Secret clearance is a plus.

Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.

The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process.

Requires advanced knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.

May have practical knowledge of projectmanagement.

Practical to substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work.

Typically requires:A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience Engineering/Other Technical Positions:Typically requires a degree in Science,Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
