Purpose of Position
Lead the Process Control Systems (PCS) program supporting the Electronics & Specialty Products (ESP) business segment, including, but not limited to:

• Develop and maintain a robust statistical quality/process control (SQC/SPC) program for gases distributed to Messer’s Electronics & Specialty Products (ESP) customer base.

• Analyze, evaluate, and report on PCS and SQC/SPC data to improve performance, enhance quality processes/products, minimize cost, and to provide such credible, reliable, and robust data to other Messer business areas and locations.

• Drive the organization to the usage of common tools and methods to reach quicker, more transparent, data-based business decisions; influence across Messer functions and key ESP customers to deliver agreed PCS objectives.

• Support the ESP Commercial team in discussions and negotiations related to PCS, ensuring the right balance between meeting discerning customer expectations and Messer’s operational priorities and capabilities.

• Lead development of Messer policies and procedures related to PCS and SQC/SPC.

• Improve and promote quality practices and programs to develop a quality culture throughout Messer.

Build and maintain successful process improvement initiatives in quality that are beneficial to Messer and its customers.

· Lead the PCS program, which includes organizing and monitoring SQC/SPC data and drawing conclusions from statistical trend analysis.

· Ensure outputs of Messer’s PCS program comply with customer standards, policies, and audits
– including, at minimum, the following activities:
Ø Generate and distribute standard SQC reports for customers and other stakeholders on a recurring basis (e.g., quarterly, monthly).

Ø Lead the Material Review Board (MRB)
– a cross-functional board to be established to guide investigations and root cause analysis for out-of-control (OOC) and questionable events and violations of trend rules.

Ø Facilitate a process with Commercial, Quality, Operations and Distribution functions to use SQC/SPC data to align on implementation of control/disposition limits and for use in ship-to-control process.

Ø Act as a key interface with ESP customers to present SQC/SPC data, MRB findings and status, and to manage customer Q&A.

· Lead SQC/SPC software maintenance and improvement.

· Lead Process Change Notification (PCN) program, including establishing a future cross-functional PCN board and process to make decisions on changes requiring notification to key customers and gathering/preparing documentation, testing, and white papers to support changes.

· Lead cross-functional review of customer policies, handbooks, etc.

to align on Messer’s ability to comply; work with Commercial to address Messer exceptions to customer policies where appropriate.

· Support instrument metrology/measurement systems analysis (MSA) studies such as instrument detection limit (IDL), method detection limit (MDL), gage repeatability & reproducibility (GRR), accuracy, linearity, precision, matching & correlation, and long term stability (LTS) monitoring.

· Support Request for Quote/Information (RFQ/RFI) and product/site qualification processes.

· Participate in, lead, or support Lean Six Sigma projects; provide technical and data-driven analyses to support process improvements.

· Support other related activities such as customer audits, complaint investigations, supplier quality bulletin (SQB) review & response, and electronic Certificates of Analysis (eCoA) processes.

· Share best practices and learning across functions.

· Travel required, up to 25%.
Required Skills Working knowledge of statistics and Process Control System (PCS) topics such as Statistical Process/Quality Control (SPC/SQC) and Western Electric rules.

Working knowledge of data management and statistical software such as Minitab, North West Quality Analyst, JMP, etc.

Working knowledge of instrument metrology/measurement systems analysis (MSA) elements such as IDL, MDL, GRR, accuracy, linearity, precision, matching & correlation, and LTS.

Working knowledge of gas/chemical analysis techniques, including calibration and calibration checks Working knowledge of Quality tools/techniques such as root cause analysis, problem solving, corrective/preventive action, 8D, and Lean Six Sigma.

Interpersonal and presentation skills in order to communicate effectively.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, etc.) Project management
– to direct and participate in continuous improvement projects.

Required Education Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering, Statistics, or Quality Management Required Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience in Gas industry, semiconductor manufacturing, and/or production experience Other Qualifications Six Sigma
– Black Belt or Green Belt Training preferred.
