QC Microbiology Lab Tech 1 – 2nd Shift

Job Title: Quality Control Microbiology Lab Technician I

Reports to: Microbiology Manager

Job Summary: Under direct supervision, perform routine microbiology lab

procedures and related laboratory work.

Essential Functions:

• Perform designated laboratory procedures according to established protocols on raw materials, production batches, finished goods, manufacturing water, and swabs.
• Document all laboratory work by recording completed microbiological test results neatly and accurately.
• Prepare culture media and reagents and perform quality checks prior to use.
• Maintain necessary lab media and supplies in proper quantities.
• Follow safety rules and safe operating procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping in the work area.
• Understand proper and safe disposal of hazardous.
• Perform additional duties as directed or assigned by Manager.
• Act as support for office duties such as issuing releases and archiving data.

Skills, Abilities, and Education:

• Degree in Biology or other Natural Sciences. Microbiology degree preferred with experience working in a microbiology lab environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic techniques.
• Ability to follow directions carefully and accurately.
• Ability to perform procedures accurately and efficiently; work independently and with a team; maintain good working relationship with other staff.
• Must have neat and legible handwriting.
• Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize.

Special Considerations:

1. Knowledge of regulations such as cGMP, GLP, PCPC, ISO, FDA, and USP

preferred.

2. Experience with essential microbiology lab equipment and techniques

preferred.
