Overview: Primary responsibility is in the provision of direct clinical services to children and adolescents, and the secondary responsibility is the education of trainees.
Understands and integrates into the delivery of patient care the needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent and adult patients in regards to their growth and development process.
The position actively supports the Hospitals and the Departments Continuous Quality Improvement and customer service goals through modeling of appropriate behavior and by providing a work environment conducive to attaining these goals.
Responsibilities: 1.
Conducts DSM-IV multi-axial diagnostic evaluation of children and adolescents.
2.
Provides individual, group, and family therapy to children, adolescents, and their families.
3.
Provides psychological testing of children and adolescents, including intellectual and projective tests.
4.
Follows protocols and procedures for the outpatient service.
5.
Writes letters, notes, and formal clinical reports on client contacts.
Communicates progress over the telephone as appropriate.
6.
Participates in the APA-approved internship training program, the social work student training program, and the child and adolescent psychiatry and general psychiatry residency program by preparing and presenting seminar topics and providing supervision to psychology trainees.
7.
Participates in formal multi-disciplinary diagnostic and treatment staffing by providing psychological expertise.
8.
Engages in research in areas related to children and their families.
9.
Provides supervision for varying numbers of participants in the APA approved internship training program.
10.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: 1.
Minimum education required to perform job: A doctoral degree in clinical psychology with appropriate APA
– approved internship.
2.
If degree is in a related area (i.e., human development), must have completed an APA-approved clinical internship.
3.
Required licensure and/or certification: current license required, or license eligibility within one year.
4.
Minimum experience required to perform job: at least two years experience providing cognitive behavioral therapy to children and adolescents with mood and anxiety disorders and/or providing family therapy to children and adolescents.
5.
Special physical requirements: sits and stands throughout the day.
Must be able to physically restrain aggressive children.
