The Project Controls Engineer will provide project support and expertise within our construction consulting practice.

This position will work with an internal team of professionals along with client project managers, construction professionals, and project stakeholders, to develop, manage and monitor Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules and project control systems throughout a project’s life-cycle.

General responsibilities include:

  • Review and provide recommendations of project schedules based on defined project execution goals.
  • Perform contractor schedule reviews for contract / specification compliance and quality assurance.
  • Perform critical path analyses through a multi-phased project.
  • Identify schedule-related problems which arise during project execution and recommend corrective actions and creative solutions.
  • Conduct construction/project site walks for progress validation.
  • Prepare the monthly reporting package for the project site team
  • Develop metrics, KPIs and Benchmarks to support the program.
  • Review contractor’s weekly and monthly schedule progress and present to management for decision-making.
  • Be capable of communicating the status of the project, and project related challenges in a formal meeting, presentation, or negotiation.
  • Communicate effectively through clear and concise means appropriate to the project’s goals
  • Review and evaluate contract change orders and amendments for impact on budget and schedule.
  • Participate in change order negotiations.
  • Review and evaluate contractor recovery schedules.
  • Understand principles of cost estimating and productivity to validate to project schedule

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or related field
  • Five years of experience in project or program scheduling on large construction programs.
  • Two+ years of scheduling experience on data center projects.
  • Excellent grasp of theories, principles, and practices related to cost engineering, scheduling and delay analysis.
  • Must have an understanding of construction means, methods, and sequences.
  • Understand the Critical Path Method of scheduling theoretically and as it applies in project.
  • Understand the contractual clauses as it applies to planning and scheduling.
  • Ability to understand and accurately interpret construction documents (drawings, specifications, contracts/general conditions) at all levels of design.
  • Ability to read and interpret RFPs, RFIs.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
