Principal Quality Engineer

The successful candidate can define testing strategies for an entire product or a large product sub-system.

A Principal Quality Engineer currently possesses or can develop an in-depth understanding of one more product lines or specific, complex subsystems within a product. The position may require the ability to act as technical lead for a team of QE engineers and to interact with customers and partners as well as management and technical leadership at OneMain Financial. Technical consultations are expected with development engineers to resolve problems, when necessary. The role may involve mentoring junior and senior level quality engineers.

A Principal Quality Engineer can accurately report testing status, as well as identify areas of risk when evaluating product and/or subsystem readiness. The position requires developing either expertise of a product’s operations or a very specialized knowledge of targeted areas.

A Principal Quality Engineer is capable of handling multiple issues simultaneously and can be trusted to make the appropriate risk/reward trade-offs based on current priorities. The successful Principal Quality Engineer can recommend making contributions to process and infrastructure improvements within the quality engineering organization, demonstrate in-depth understanding of testing and product release processes.

This role may be remote in the Central or Eastern time zones.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be

assigned:

* Assist in the definition and implementation of automated test strategies, methodologies, processes, and procedures

* Investigate and recommend test infrastructure tools to support the QE methodology, process, and procedures

* Analyze product source code and work with development counterparts to propose appropriate test strategies for the product subsystems

* Developing automated tests in accordance with department policies and process

* Develop product wide test plans and strategies

* Oversee the work of other Quality Engineers within a product

* Participate in and contribute to weekly team meetings

* Interact with external partners and customers regarding testing strategies and results

* Schedule and lead reviews with management and senior technical leadership

* Provide an accurate and timely status of testing efforts and quality metrics to the broader project team

Minimum Qualifications:

* Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree majoring in Information Technology or Computer Science and a minimum of 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Experience in defining and analyzing quality and product metrics

* Experience with test driven development or Agile methodologies is highly desirable

* Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret English language technical documents.

* Experience in generating statistically based test plans is a plus

* Experienced with audits, compliance, inspections are a plus
