Principal Lead HW Board Design Engineer

Join Infinera Sunnyvale HW team responsible for developing and designing high speed Boards.

Will be responsible for design, test, validation and release to production Printed Circuit Boards containing digital and mixed signal circuits for deployment into the telecommunications market.

Duties may also include existing product engineering support and documentation.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities As a Principal Engineer provide solution to complex design issues and involve in early architecture design decision as far system partitioning and selections of key components ICs.

Act as a technical team lead for the board designer group and provide guidance to others less experienced engineers as needed.

Ability to fully review schematic, layout, and test plans.

Drive designs from conception through MFG production , including architecture requirements, functional specification, design, prototype, H/W bring up and verification Ability to work with cross functional teams (SW, FW, SDVT, Optical, Architecture) Responsible for PCBA design including schematics capture, layout, and full EDVT Work closely with Mechanical Engineers and FPGA designers.

Write detailed board level functional specifications.

Support product through pre & post production release.

Develop and execute DVT plans to ensure high-reliability in field deployment.

Define production test requirements and provide manufacturing support as necessary.

Work closely with Diagnostics and software developers to define bring-up strategy Ability to work with ODM vendors to review design schematic, EDVT reports and provide guidance as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities MS/BSEE with 10-15 years’ experience with board level hardware design, including strong knowledge of schematic capture, PCB layout, logic & signal integrity.

Solid experience in microprocessor & digital circuit design, implementation of high speed I/O and clock termination techniques required.

Good knowledge of ARM based dual core processor platform (Xilinx Zynq family or similar).

Working experience with Xilinx FPGA; Defining pin
– out and provide requirement for FPGA designers.

Good understanding of Ethernet (CAUI4, 200GAUI-4, 400GAUI-8, FlexE), and OTN (OTU4) Standards Working experience with 28Gbps or higher Serdes and applicable layout constraints is a plus Experience with implementation of on board DC/DC power supplies, LDOs, and hot swap circuitry.

Knowledge of power sequencing, clock skew control / compensation.

Knowledge of PCB fabrication, fab & assembly design rules, and product integration with mechanical components.

Knowledge of Cadence Concept and Allegro is considered a plus.

Good writing and communication skills required.

Ability to work independently and across multiple time zones is considered plus.
