Memorial Hospital of Union County
All employees within the Central Scheduling Department are expected to answer incoming phone calls within the pre-established guidelines per the policy and procedure manual and to accurately provide all relevant information to the callers. Reviews faxed orders and schedules procedure if necessary; distributes as necessary all faxed orders; distributes as necessary any other faxed materials. Schedules all outpatient appointments from patient, physician or physician’s office for the following departments: Imaging, Specialty Care Center, Respiratory Therapy, Sleep Lab, Food and Nutrition, Cardiology, and Non-Invasive Lab utilizing the Central Scheduling System; obtains and documents all relevant patient information necessary for scheduling patient. Provides pre-certification/prior notification services to physician offices as requested by offices; services include but are not limited to Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Stress, Echocardiography, Colonoscopy, and Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD); appropriately documents within the system authorization numbers and/or contact information obtained from insurance carrier; reviews all scheduled procedures to ensure pre-certification/prior notification information is captured for those exams that the physician office staff obtain the pre-certification/prior notification. Ensures daily schedules are available to participating departments and admissions; communicates effectively with appropriate departments regarding scheduling changes.
Requirements
Completion of high school education or equivalent, MS Windows experience, telecommunications, medical terminology knowledge, and excellent customer service skills. Medical coding experience preferred.
