Job Description: Painter
Reports To: Production Manager
Must work a trial period through the temporary agency first at $10.50/hr
Job Summary: To perform an identified set of tasks necessary for the painting of commercial HVAC fan products and parts.
Basic Functions:
May include the following operations: safe and efficient operation of the spray booth system; washing, pre-treating and painting of parts for blowers and industrial fans or for components required for general production, loading and unloading of parts, forklift operation
Education/Training: High School Diploma preferred. Two to three years experience as an industrial painter
Must be capable of being certified to operate the overhead cranes and forklifts
Experience:
Should receive approximately two weeks of training before the individual can become qualified in performing the operation alone. An individual may have to receive follow-up training, if quality, efficiency and/or safety performance(s) are below the established criteria for that specific operation.
Responsibilities:
Perform all tasks related to the safe transportation and painting of materials through the various stages of this process. The individual must exhibit the ability to plan and perform the sequence of work according to the standards and methods of operations that are available. The individual must be capable of making decisions and working with other employees or alone with minimal direct supervision.
Tasks include, but are not exclusive, to the following:
1. Assure all materials are available to complete the tasks and work plan specified on the production schedule;
2. Assure paint system is available and in working condition;
3. Perform all quality checks, standard work and verification, as specified by the Standard Operating procedures and/or on-the-job training
4. Perform all necessary steps to maintain clean and organized storage areas throughout the work day;
5. Monitor and record all information requested for that operation;
6. May be required to participate in annual (or periodic) company inventory.
7. Actively participate in continuously improving the operation; and
8. Perform any other company duties that are legal, safe, and deemed necessary by management
Skills Required:
1. Basic math
2. Knowledge of all materials necessary to manufacture the products
3. Capable of performing daily safety inspections for cranes and paint system
4. Certification in the use of overhead cranes and forklifts.
5. Capable of working with others
6. Perform paint spray operations with full range of vertical and horizontal arm movements (including extension of arms overhead); ability to perform paint work from hydraulic lifts or climbing up and down ladders.
7. Interpret paint spec sheets/schedule to facilitate paint application of the desired customer order
8. be able to wear respiratory protection
9. Be able to work in standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, or climbing position; wear safety and protective equipment in appropriate areas
Work Environment:
Relatively clean working conditions, which may involve exposure to minimal levels of dust, paints, oils and greases. There may be intermittent noises due to the use of pneumatic hand tools. The person must be capable of lifting for short periods of time 50 lbs. or less; push/pull up to 110 lbs or less.
